We have never taken all 3 of our children to disney world so we wanted to do one last big trip before our oldest leaves for college. Where can we not stay with 5 people in a room? And where would anyone suggest we stay. We have 2 adults and 2 teens and one 8 yr. old. I am a teacher and we want to go the very first week of June 2004. We are very middle class and can not afford the really expensive hotels. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks so much.

Other than getting two rooms at an AllStarsResort, your other choices would be a deluxe...2 queens and a daybed (twin size), or Port Orleans Riverside-Alligator Bayou area. These rooms have 2 double beds and a trundle-bed. The trundle is on the small side tho. Your 8 y/o would most likely fit but probably not the teens. Would the teens mind sleeping together?
WL has 2 queens, or a queen and a set of bunkbeds. AKL may have the same set-up. The other deluxes can fit 5 as I said before. If you stayed in a deluxe, one of your older kids could have the daybed and the other could share with the 8 y/o. But, then you're talking about spending quite a bit. You may be better off getting two rooms at an AllStar. That way you could have two bathrooms also and the teens could share one room and you could have the 8 y/o in with you. Have fun planning.

you should also check out the cabins at FW.

Also look into the Swan and Dolphin for their teacher rate discounts.

I would suggest two connecting rooms at an All Star. Having two bathrooms with five people (especially teens!) is wonderful!

You might want to try the DVC rent/trade board. You can rent points from a DVC member at one of the home away from home resorts for substantially less. Just an idea....:teeth:

Thanks for all the suggestions. Can we have 5 people in a room at the swan & Dolphin? How is the Port Orleans- riverside? Is it considered a deluxe or moderate? Thanks again for the help and any other suggestions.

It is my understanding that at least some of the rooms at the Swan & Dolphin will accomodate 5. I believe you may need to have a rollaway bed moved in though and there is an additional charge for that, I think $25 or something like that??? I know someone on here will know for sure. I also saw mention of a jr. suite at the Swan & Dolphin that would accomodate 6... I remember thinking that the price (with the discount) was reasonable, at least as far as suites go. Port Orleans is a moderate but we've never stayed there. Good luck with your research!

PO is a mod.
We have stayed there before with 6 people. Myself, my DH and my grandaughters, age 4yrs, 6yrs, and 8yrs.

The four year old slept on the bed. It was fine for her and when you are not using it you can roll it under the other bed.

I think this is the least expencive way to go, BUT the room is not very big and we had a hard time moving around with the bed out.
It was crowded even with the bed in.

That being said I do think it is not as expensive as two rooms at allstars and you dont have thoses"turbo" flush toilets that they have at the AS resorts!( they woke me up every morning at around 5am)

A little clarification, the Dolphin has standard rooms that can accomodate 5, but not the Swan. Also, there is no additional charge for the roll away if it is for a child. With the teacher discount this is a great deal, in Disney terms! (Still big $$$, of course).

Given all the possible scenarios it seems 1 room at POR will be cheapest option, 2 rooms at AS's will provide most space and 2 bathrooms, and Dolphin best location (being able to walk to 2 parks...can't beat that!). Then there are the FW cabins and renting DVC points. I can't form an opinion on these... You have a lot to weigh! Tough decisions...but you're going to DISNEY! Good luck deciding!
