Rooms for 5

Other than the 2 bedroom villas at DVC resorts, where can 5 people stay? (2 rooms really isn't an option.)

The Alligator Bayou section of POR offers trundle beds and will allow you to sleep 5.

You can have five at Poly, CR, YC/BC, BWI, GF in any of the standard rooms. You can also have five in a deluxe room at the AKL. If one of the people is under 10 you can have five in POR in the Bayoue Section. FW cabins also sleep six.

Yes, at least at the Deluxe resorts there are, I don't know about the moderates or value resorts. You can request connecting room, but it's just a request, not a guarantee.

All WDW resorts have connecting rooms, and it is guaranteed if only children will be occupying that room. If it's gram and the kids, then they won't guarantee it.

I believe you can get connecting rooms at any of the resorts. They will guarantee connecting rooms if there are going to be minors in one room; i.e. if you rent two rooms one for you and spose, the other for children. At least that was my understanding.
We're a family of five too, and right now we are just going for a larger room at a deluxe, but I try to keep up knowing that our next trip this may be a better option.

I've booked a connecting room for our kids and have still had it say on our confirmation letter that it's not guaranteed but a request. When I've called on it I've been told that though it's for my kids, the rooms are techinally booked for 2 adults and 3 children and worst case is I sleep in one room and my husband in the other! I've never not had the connecting rooms once we've arrived so I've never really had to see what happens in the worst case scenario.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness sleep 6. 5 very comfortably, as long as 2 can share abed.
