We're looking into renting DVC points for the first time and are checking out all of our options at the different resorts. It would be myself, my husband, and another couple with their 3-year-old. Do we have to book a room that has an occupancy of 5 or can we book a room for 4 and have them bring a roll-away bed for the child? Our idea is to rent a 1-bedroom with our friends and their daughter in the "proper" bedroom and myself and my husband on the pullout.

DVC does not provide roll-away beds. You will have to bring an air mattress or aerobed or something similar for the 3 year old if you book a 1 bedroom at VWL, BCV, BWV, VGF or SSR .

If you book a 1 bedroom at AKV, OKW or BLT, there is a sleep chair that turns into a twin size bed. You could take the bedroom and put the other couple on the pullout in the living room & their 3 year old on the sleep chair. BlT & AKV (Kidani building only) also have two bathrooms - that would be nice for your group. All the others only have one bathroom.

If the 3yo is on the small side, you can ask for a crib. They have full sized cribs, but it's first come first served.

FWIW, my kids would have a hard time sleeping in the pull out chair because they roll around so much. I would opt for a low air mattress. If you're at AKV-K or OKW there's plenty of room. BLT - some feel smaller.
