We are staying at POR for 3 weeks in July/August (51 days to go). We stayed there last year and really enjoyed it, but would like to try a different location. We stayed in Arcadian House and thought it was great, but we are thinking of staying in the Alligator Bayou. Are there any major differences between the 2 locations? We like to be overlooking a quiet pool, not too far from the food courts and not a major walk to the bus stop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at this map.

I'd recommend buildings 16, 17, 18 or 27 to overlook a quiet pool and be near the food court and bus stops. :)

I haven't stayed in the mansions, but really enjoy the landscaping of the bayou buildings and grounds. Did you know that the theming changes gradually from the bayous to the mansions, so that there is the greatest differences between the furthest buildings of the two sections. Where the two sections are next to each other the theming is most similar.

I never knew that Hilary! I will have to check it out in August as we are staying at POFQ :)

I confess I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been looking out for it because I'd read about it! The change is very subtle, but definitely there :)

That's really interesting :) We are staying at POFQ in December, and are going to have a wander round POR as well :sunny:

We prefer the Bayou Section. The landscaping makes it feel more secluded. We have managed to get a room in Building 14 in the past. This building is the closest to the foodcourt/lobby building and also closest to the main bus deepo.

These is a nice quiet pool about a 2 minute stroll away that never seemed to get busy when we have stayed.

Here are some pics from Easter (mainly AB pics). Might help you decide. AB for me though, didn't enjoy the mansions.

We have stayed in both

love either :thumbsup2
as long as we are there who cares what room we are in

Thank you for your helpful advice. We've decided that we are going to try and stay in one of the Bayou buildings. Is it worth ringing Disney in advance or should we just sort it out when we arrive?

Who did you book with Everton? If with a UK agent I would ask them to note your reservation (not sure you are supposed to contact the resort direct - you used to be able to fax them but I don't know if they still accept this - anyone know?)

If you booked with Disney CRO then yes ask them to add it to your ressie :)

That's my understanding, but I think it depends on the resort. I think an article I read was specifically about WL and stated that they would be disregarding faxed requests. I was told by a CM on our last trip that this is now the case and any requests must be added to your initial reservation.

If you booked with Disney it's very simple for them to add it to your reservation - and this way it gets the best chance of being honoured too!

Wow! Thanks for sharing that. How interesting. I love how the imagineers put so much effort into the design and layout of the resorts.
