Roomettes or Coach ? Auto Train From VA

We prefer the roomettes, it's nice to have your privacy and a bed to sleep in.

Plus the food is better in the Sleeper dining car than the coach dining car.

We have done coach each time with no problems at all. I personally wont waste the money on the room.

No way would we sit out in coach all night. We've reserved a roomette. Well worth a little extra for us.

Hi all, we're planning on taking the Auto Train this December. There will be 3 of us. Me, DH and DD who will be an adult on this trip. So my question is should we do 2 roomettes or coach? Can the 3 of us sqeeze in to be together for the day and DH will stay by himself at night? There seems to be nothing to accomodate 3 adults. By the way I'm planning on booking by this weekend. I could really use your advice.TIA:goodvibes

You won't fit 3 people in unless two of you weight 100 pounds. Or one is sitting on the sink. Though if one sleeps in coach, he she could probably lay in the roomette for a few hours during the day if they need some better sleep.

That would be a sight.:lmao:I guess it will be 2 roomettes. No DH is about 6'3" and DD and myself top about 5'10". I think that would be an impossiblity. Togetherness is nice but that's a bit much I think. But thanks for the info.:goodvibes

Plus the Auto train has separate dining cars for coach and sleepers. So you couldn't eat together. There is a difference in the food, and service, between the two dining cars.

So after talking to DH this morning (he works nights) we seem to be leaning toward 2 roomettes. I've read that if I call vs booking online I have a better chance of getting the rooms across from each other. This seems the best for us on the way down though it will be coach on the way home.:goodvibes
