room views ? at AKV

Ok - Dh & I purchased at AKV in Sept. we have not stayed there yet but are planning our trip. We will need a 1 BR. After reading the boards here - what are the difference between the values and standards? The savannah views are pretty obvious. BUt I read one thread about the values having savannah views? is that right?

There are 8 value studios with a Sunset Savanna view. 4 are a dedicated studio and 4 are part of a 2 BR lockoff. If you book a "dedicated" value studio(not a request, but a designation on your confirmayion letter) you are guranteed either the savanna view or a pool view. There are also 4 value studios in the pool view category. So to sum it up, if you reserve a "dedicated" value studio, you are guaranteed a savanna view or a pool view. NO PARKING LOT VIEW. This only applies to Jambo House.

Standard is pool view only at Jambo House.

at Kidani - it will be garden, pool (?) or drive way view.

value room is smaller.

standard at Kidani - will be bigger than Jambo House. the Kidani bathroom will have the separate shower and tub - plus the other bathroom.

Jambo house has a combination shower & tub.

so for a 1-bedroom standard would be hard put - do you go with Kidani for the more room and the regular DVC bathroom. or do you go with Jambo house for the guaranteed pool view

The main difference between "value" and "standard" is the size of the room, not the view.

That being said, a standard villa at Jambo will have a pool view. A standard at Kidani will have a pool or parking lot view, no guarantees.

A value villa (only available at Jambo) will either be pool (40%), parking lot (20%) or savanna (40%) view. The cheaper point cost for the value rooms is because of their smaller size, and in the case of 1-2BR, lower occupancy.

Here are the room sizes at JAMBO HOUSE only! (borrowed from AllEars.net)

Two-BR 945 sq.ft. 1075 sq.ft.

The standard villas at Kidani will be even larger and have an extra bathroom in the 1 and 2BR units.

We are staying in the value category in June. Right now, our children are 5 and 3 so we don't need too much extra room. The value category allowed us to schedule an extra trip because the points required are so low. We plan on using our points for standard 2BR or savanna 1BR vacations. If we like the value rooms and the size works out, we might just stick to those units and take more vacations .

AKV is surpose to have the parking lot underneath the lodge.

so the parking lot view is the drive way view.
