room upgrades?

we've been reading some info about where we are going to be staying this June (SSR) and noticed some people comment about getting random room upgrades...does anyone have any info about this? Anyone know how we could possible get upgraded?

Upgrades are rare when staying on DVC points.

Usually it has to be that the room you are supposed to occupy is out of service because of maintenance and they have no other in that category to give you.

Yes, I would put it into that category.

Unlike regular hotels, DVC cannot knowingly overbook its resorts. So as was pointed out, the only reason for an upgrade offer is if more rooms are out of service than planned. Even then, it would be very much the luck of the draw as people check in that day.
