Room towels at the hotel pool?

I don't fancy taking towels with us, as it will just take up space in the suit case. Soo the towels you get in your room, are you able to use them when you go to the pool? I know some hotels don't allow it. We are staying at SL. I mean the changing area, no one will see what towel you are using right?

We always use the hotel room towels at the pools around DLP.

At HNY they have special pool towels - blue and white stripe - they give you one each, and on the way back through there is a dump bin for used towels.
