I've tried wading through the "search" results on this one, but haven't found an answer.

I'm getting ready to go on my seventh Disney Cruise, so I'm not a novice. However, all of my previous cruises have just been with me, and my husband. This cruise we're going with a total of five parties (family & friends, in celebration of a wedding).

I'm sure we'll want to do things on our own, as well as doing things as a large group, or smaller groups with each other, etc.

I'm completely baffled though as far as how to keep track of where everybody is, or at least have a vague idea!

My primary question is - can you use the telephones in the staterooms to call other staterooms? I apologize again if this is a silly question - it has just never come up before as I've always cruised just with my husband, and no other groups.

And a follow-up question - can you leave "voice mail" type messages if a person is not in their stateroom?

And a third follow-up question - are there charges (any fees, etc.) for calling from stateroom to stateroom, and/or for leaving messages?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Some people put a dry erase board on the outside of their doors to leave messages for each other.

Yes -- easily :)

I believe so --

Nope and Nope...

You also might want to get a dry erase board for your door so people can leave messages -- and I know you can easily slip notes under each other's doors.

When I'm with a group, we try to arrange a pow-wow at some point during the day (breakfast and dinner the night before) so everyone knows where others will be. :)

There is no charge to call cabin to cabin. Additionally, there are "house" phones all over the ship that you can use. There is a voicemail system. I believe you can also call and check your voicemail from any house/cabin phone.

In addition to the phones, we also utilze a dry erase board as the PP mentioned. We might mark it where we are, where we will be going at a certain time.

Opps forgot to mention, you can utilize your fish. We sometimes hang a notepad and pen from it. You can then leave a note either in the fish, or under the door.

I agree with PP. On our recent cruise there were about 8 cabins on our hall all occupied by "Betty Lou's Crew". I never figured who they all were, but there must have been a bunch of them, and they each had identical dry erase boards on their doors. Since they were all in the same hallway, it would have been easy for their group to walk down the hall and read all of the boards and have a really clear idea of what everybody was doing.

We exchanged voicemail with friends me made on board. It worked fine, but was more work than a dry erase board would have been.

Dollar tree has had dry erase boards with magnets. Or office stores usually have them in school supplies, locker supplies.

Voicemail on your stateroom phone is free. You can also check your voicemail messages from any phone on the ship. This is particularly useful when you don't want to take the time to go to your room, but want to check for a message.

Thats really interesting re viocemail, How do you work it? I can not remember seeing instructions anywhere. Also how great is the dollar tree shops? We are from Scotland so it is like the 50p shop for us!

You can always call cabin to cabin for free..but we have started bringing some little radios to communicate back with everyone. You can get them in a 2 or 4 pack with chargers and they are really easy to use - obviously we don't take them into dining rooms and keep them off during shows.

We left each other post it notes - time left/event, etc. When laying on deck - we were always on deck 10 (by Basketball court) more or less same area.

We tried to just give an idea/heads up of what we might be doing that day -

to use the cabin phones you dial 7 the the room number. You get the option to leave a message when no one picks up. To get your messages in your room you see the light flashing..just push the button above the light. Messages are played. They do have to be erased or your box will be to full. If you wait after the message it tells you how to delete the message.

We used it for the 3 rooms we had..two on deck 2 one on deck 6..

Wow, thank you all so much for your help!

We're leaving Sunday, yippee!!!!

Thank you also for the dry-erase boards suggestion - I found a pack of them dirt cheap at Office Depot, with magnetic backs.

You guys are great!
