Hi,

We are staying at CSR the week after thanksgiving this year. The past two trip we have stayed at my favorite the BC. This is our first moderate hotel.

Looking for suggestion on good room location.

From looking at the pics. I prefer the casitas area. Possibly cabanas but not ranchos.

We do not care about being near the big pool, we will probably only go there 1-2 times in the week. We also like quiet pools.

We will probably run into the marketplace (oops tha bc) type place 1 time a day to refill mugs etc.
We will be driving to some places and taking buses. So I dont want to be too far from bus stop either.
Will be 2 adults, 13 and 5 year old (will still bring stroller for long day/trips)

I am leaning towards the casitas building 3 and 4 from looking at the map?

Any advice from someone familiar with the property would be great!!
Thanks

If you don't care much about the Dig Site pool and plan on stopping by the main building at least once per day, then you probably will do best with your plan on staying at Casitas. We stayed in Cabanas- the building between the Dig Site and bus stop. My son loved the pool, and I loved the bus stop right behind the building. We only went to the main building a few times during our stay, so that worked for us. It was definitely quite a hike from Cabanas all the way around to the front of the resort, so with a stroller you probably have picked the best location for your family. Either way, it is a very pretty resort that we enjoyed! Have a great trip!

We have stayed in Casitas 4 several times and it close to the FIRST bus stop going and coming. I think it is still NOT a preferred ($$) bldg.

Casitas 1-3 are preferred. For non preferred request casitas 4 or 5. Cabanas is also nice but is the last bus stop.

I stayed in a preferred room and felt it was worth the money (in August); another time of year, I would not have cared.

I just found out there are no more preferred rooms available for the week we are going :(.

I asked the ta to request casitas 4, any other suggestions if not available.
Thanks everyone!
Which cabana is the best 8b?

how come people don't really like Ranchos? We were in Ranchos our last stay at CSR and I personally loved it. We were not really far from the pook and right by the bus stop and it was virtually empty every pickup (was the 2nd stop i think) I realize it was quite far from the main building but walking didn't bother me..we could also catch any park bus and it stops at the main building too

No matter what section you are in, you should not be too far from a bus stop (there is a bus stop located in each section...Bus Stop 2 (first picked up) is near Casitas 4; then you have Bus Stop 3 which is in the Ranchos, Bus Stop 4 which is in the Cabanas and then Bus Stop 1 which is at the main building).

We've stayed at the CSR nine times (going "home" for a surprise trip for my DH in December for his 60th birthday) and have requested the Ranchos only because it is the only location we have never stayed).

Of our nine stays, our favorite spots are Casitias 4 and 5, and Cabanas 8A (a short walk over the bridge to the main building to refill your mugs).

If I paid for water view, what are my odds of ending up in Casitas 1,2,or 3? I specifically asked for Casitas 4 but wouldn't complain about almost anywhere. (Unless a drainage ditch in Ranchos is passed off as water view. :rolleyes2 ) Is the Ranchos pool usually sold as water view or only as a last resort?

I did note about being mobility impaired and hope to be close to an early bus stop. Cabanas looks beautiful too but I worry about being able to get a wheelchair on the bus at the end of the resort loop.

For me I like the looks of the other 2 areas. Better than desert. I lived in arizona for a year and although I loved it there. I'm not a huge fan if desert terrain. I'm grew up in NYC so prefer the other areas for looks. However these are just from pics I might change my mind when I see each area in person My dh would probably love the desert feel as he loves cali and Mexico.

We were in casitas #4 this past March, and it was a great location! The best thing is that the first bus stop is right behind the building. The next best thing is the quiet pool right next door. Plus you are still only a short walk away from the main building and all the food choices. :thumbsup2

Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are preferred buildings, so even paying for a water view, you would have to be upgraded to be placed in those buildings. Have you looked at the availability of preferred rooms for your dates? If they are not showing available on the website, there is little chance you would be upgraded.

The ranchos quiet pool does qualify as a water view. Ranchos 7B is not a bad location - it is close to the quiet pool, Dig Site, laundry and cabanas bus stop. The only thing it is not close to is the main building.

Sport to hijack op. But if we wanted to be close to the dig sight we have 3 pool day planed. Which would you go with Cabana 8 a or b. B looks a bit closer to the main building as well. So I'm not sure. Which one has a laundry area? It has been 10 years since we stayed there so I'm a little rusty on all things CSR. We booked a standard room if that matters at all.

8A is very close to the Dig Site and the cabanas bus stop. It is our favorite building. 8B is a little closer to the main building and a little farther from the Dig Site, but still close.

Laundry facilities are near Ranchos 7B, Cabanas 9A and casitas 4.

we were in the ranchos section, can't remember which room specifically sorry, but we were near a laundry, a quiet pool, and it was a short walk to the main pool. the main building with the food etc...was further away so we either jumped on the bus or our car. i really liked our stay there. have a great time!
