I was 11 when they went on sale. My mom bought Chocks vitamins once in a while but as an RN she believed in just eating a balanced diet without vitamins for the most part.
Our kids never took supplements. Doctor encouraged a balanced diet as well.

I don’t think Flintstones vitamins existed when I was a kid. I DO remember taking Chocks and Zestabs (now without cyclamates!!!)

Yes, both tasted like fruit flavored chalk.

Chocks became Flintstones. Of course I took both I lie in the town where they were made. My grandma worked on the line that made them.

Took them and LOVED them! Except when I went through my "I don't eat anything green" phase. I didn't mean veggies - I ate tomatoes, corn, squash, carrots. I meant ANYthing green - no green veggies obvs, but also no green M&Ms, no green Flintstones, etc. Because I wasn't boycotting fruits and veggies completely, my doctor told my mom not to push me - and sure enough one day I just started again.

And I had a whole lot of green Flintstones to get through. LOL. My mom had saved them all.

My mother used to take Flintstones Vitamins as a child and she loved them and she also loved the very first Flintstones Vitamins commercial "you know the one that goes,
"Yabba Dabba Doo
"Flintstones Vitamins are good to chew"
And my mom knew that commercial by heart every time it would come on. It's hard to believe that Flintstones Vitamins are still best-selling children's vitamins and my mom still takes them today as well as my father and me. I do remember when they added Betty to the Flintstones vitamins in the 90's and I don't know why they chose to discontinue the Betty vitamins but I think Flintstones Vitamins still ranks as the top children's vitamins because it was not only a hit but when you stick cartoon characters in kids vitamins they attract a big kids audience and it's no secret that the 80's slogan 10 Million Strong And Growing is true for Flintstones Vitamins today

I don't believe in giving your kids vitamins unless their doctor recommends it. Certainly isn't something you should buy based on a TV ad regardless of who they paid to 'endorse' them. Making vitamins look like candy also seems like a bad idea even if you keep them locked away where small children can't get at them.

I saw the below picture on Facebook and it made me laugh. I have childhood memories of my mom giving me these vitamins and I loved them - me taking them was never a battle. In fact, I can remember exactly how they taste. I did buy these for my girls, but since they never watched The Flintstones, the vitamins were not fun for them. I don’t recall if they liked the taste or not. After I saw the below picture, and reminisced about my childhood, I wanted to ask all of you about Flintstone vitamins. Before we get to the poll, here’s some info on the subject….

Now that we read all that, give us your yabba dabba doo answer today…..

Have you ever taken Flintstone vitamins?
If yes…..what was your opinion of them?
Did you give them to your children?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..As I mentioned above, I did take them regularly as a child and I did give them to my kids. I don’t think I gave them to them regularly, because I think I gave then something else that was themed more for them.

Meanwhile at Disney: actual Gummi Bears in vitamin form

I still eat one every day together with some vitamin C gummies.

It's like eating candy and I feel like it has kept me from getting sick as often.

With an elementary school teacher spouse, she is exposed to everything. She started us on the vitamin regime and decided if we were going to do it we might as well treat it like candy.

Yep, poisoned myself with them once when I was around 9ish and wanted something sweet, they were the only option because we weren't allowed sweets ever except for these and with kid logic I figured if one is good then more is better. Luckily there weren't many in the bottle. I got really sick but I had no idea they could be dangerous because no-one said it to me and I was a kid so I had no idea to mention it. I figured out what happened when I was an adult and read something about how incredibly dangerous kid vitamins with iron can be and so when I did have vitamins for my kids they did not have iron, were VERY well hidden and had those Mr Yuk stickers on them.

When I was pregnant I could absolutely not get down the pre-natal horse-sized pills I was given. They'd go about halfway down my throat then I'd throw them up again. My GYN told me to just take Flintstones vitamins and a separate folic acid. So that's the last time I had them, but it worked out for me.
