Room Service on Deluxe Dining Plan

I am trying to help a friend plan her Spring Break vacation. (first time in Disney for her and her family) They are staying at the CR and want to do room service every morning for breakfast. They are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. I know it will take 2 TS from each of them..but does anyone know what or if any of the convience fees they will have to pay? They will also be expected to pay gratuity too right?

Nope the service charge is included for in-room dining on DDP. Typically breakfast does not include an appetizer or dessert. They allow two drinks through 2010 to make up for the dessert not being included (according to Disney literature that will be discontinued in 2011 and only one drink will be included). If there is a breakfast "platter" whatever is on the platter will be included if it's all listed and priced together - you just can't get separately priced sides covered by DDP.

If they are trying to save money by using DDP it should be noted that breakfast is not the most economical way to use 2 credits per person.

Well, you get whatever comes with the entree - for breakfast, if you have eggs with bacon, you'll get all that covered. Breakfasts are generally served that way, as a platter. What wouldn't be covered is a separately priced side order of bacon or something like that.

Here is the in room dining menu. They may want to think about ordering one or two entrees and splitting between a family of 4. It is one of the worst values for using credits

They may want to think about paying OOP for some of those breakfasts if they plan on enjoying some of the 2TS restaurants for dinner.

78.99/night/adult, $21.99/night/child
each credit is thus worth 26 so each breakfast is "costing" $52. The most expensive breakfast item is steak and eggs at $18.99, that seems like a REALLY bad use of credits. Even adding tax, tip, coffee and juice you are still not getting a great bang for your buck, especially if you do it every day.
