Posted this in the DDP thread also...

Word has it that room service at Deluxe resorts only will be allowed for guests using the DDP. It will take off 2 credits (whether CS or TS, I do not know). It is meant as a last resort option for guests who cannot get a booking at any restaurants.

Sorry, this is all the details I have. I do not know which resorts (or if DVC is included), was only told deluxe resorts and 2 credits.

Note: I do not know if this is a permanent addition to DDP or only for the next month during free dining package promotion.

Sounds interesting. I imagine it would have to be TS credits. Thanks for sharing the info. :)

Sounds strange to me. I can't believe Disney will only allow those on DDP to get room service. Doesn't make sense they would refuse service to a paying guest.

I think it's just poor wording. I think they mean that you can only get room service with the DDP at Deluxes, not moderates. Meaning if you are staying at a moderate, you cannot use your DDP to buy room service but you can use the DDP to buy room service at the deluxe. That's my guess.

But of course, anyone can buy whatever they want from room service when they are not on the dining plan at either the moderates or deluxe resorts.

That's what I think it means. I wonder if this is still a rumor or true. :confused3

Yes, this is true, atleast for the WL. Don't know if this will be a forever thing or just during the "free dining" period. It's 2 TS credits per person for an app, entree, drink and dessert.

Now for that I would do the dining plan. I LOVE room service and there are some fantastic options there. DH and I could easily share one full meal.

Maybe next trip when we stay at the BWV, if it is still offered, we would get it

Yes, I think the option of 2 TS for room service (esp for a couple to share) would be a great addition! Sometimes, ya just can't bother to get dressed and head back out there in the big ole world. :cool1:

I am the opposite. When I am at WDW, any minute in the room is a wasted minute! ;) Get me out there to play!!!!

For anyone who's had a sick kid when visiting Disney, this could be the saving grace to an otherwise rotten day... well, for the mom at least ;)

I absolutely love room service!! Sometimes after a long day at the park I'm not in the mood to get ready again to go out so we'll call room service. I often use it for my 2 teenage sons so me and DH can go out by ourselves.

Do you think if I call Disney Dining they could confirm this? We will be staying at BCV in October, and I will cancel some of my ADRs if this is true. I have a food allergic child, and while Disney is GREAT at accomidating this, sometimes it is just easier to eat in the room.

I think it's great...our kids are older and there is one restaurant they are not thrilled about going to...this way if they choose to stay at the Poly I can have RS ordered for them..they can even share it and save a TS, and DH and I can enjoy our meal without looking across the table at eyes being rolled at us! As I stated tho...DD is 16, I would not leave young ones unnattended...and I will make sure RS arrives BEFORE we leave!
Great to have this option...

Humm .. this news has me rethinking the dining plan. It sounds great! We always stay were we can get room service .. at WDW and elsewhere.

now if they would just let you use your DDE card for room service!!

That's interesting but where in there does it say Deluxe only? I think I'm missing something. CSR has a full room service menu and they don't appear to be excluded from that. Doesn't really matter to me since I never use the dining plan but as far as I can tell a CSR guest would also be able to take advantage of this.

Any word on how this will be handled for Premium & Platinum plan users? Hopefully, the service is available to us since we are paying a lot more for those packages than what what others are paying for the MYW + dining.
