Room reservation etc ?s

I've noticed during the on-line check-in discussions that people mention the system erasing or ignoring requests. What type of requests do people make? Also, some people mentioned upgrades. What types of upgrades are available?

We got an exchange through RCI for a studio at SSR :cool1: I'm trying to figure out which part of the resort would be best for us to stay. I'm assuming that is one of the requests people make- which section of the resort to stay in- but don't know if there are other types of requests.

Also, do I call Member Services w/ my RCI confirmation # to get a DVC reservation #? I think someone mentioned that before. Can someone give me the phone #? Once I have the reservation # can I log into the DVC site to check things out?

I can help you with were to request staying in SSR, The Grandstand section. It's the first stop for the busses, close to the Carriage House and has it's own quiet pool. This is were we requested to say in May of 2010. Also depending on the room view, you can look at the golf course, so it is very quiet.
 
The DVC Member Services number should be listed on your RCI Confirmation. The toll-free Member Services number is not allowed to be posted here on the DIS.

You may contact Member Services to add the Dining Plan, make room location requests, and Magical Express airport shuttle arrangements.

DVC Members on points rarely get an upgrade, only if their specific room type happens to be out of service for an unforeseen reason, like damage. Upgrades are often granted to cash guests at Disney resorts, but that is one difference between a timeshare and cash reservations.

Chuck- Sorry for asking for the #- didn't realize it was against the rules. I'll look for it on my confirmation. We actually did a weeks exchange since the resort we own at only has weeks not points. That probably doesn't make a difference to Disney though. Thanks!

I called member services and updated our reservation (added DH's name, kids' names and ages). She gave me a reservation # (first person said she wasn't trained to do that so switched me to someone else) and told me to call back for DME, dining and tickets.

We have non-expire tickets from our last trip but not sure if we have 4 or 5 days left plus at least 6 or 7 water park days. I guess the # you used to be able to call and check the # of days left doesn't work anymore so we'll have to find out when we get there.

She told me that I can't check my reservation online (at DVC site or regular trip planning site?) until 30 days out. That's a bummer.

When and how do I request a certain area for our room? Do I call MS, fax something, or can I do it online?
