I'm curious, do you request a certain building while making a res? If you do, does it get honored? I know from DVC experience that it rarely happens, but it seems from posts here that you can get the room you're asking for?

You can make any requests that you like on your ressie but there is no guarantee that it will be met. Having said that, they do seem to try their best to fulfill your requests. When checking in (and it's better to do this in person rather than online) ask if your request was met. If they tell you no, you can ask them to check and see if they can fulfill your request. The goal of the CM is to get you in a room right away so you may have to wait for your requested room.

I always make a room location request . I have gotten mine or very close to it every time but 1 time. We asked if we could be moved and they did find us a room close to where we wanted. We have always gone during value season though, I would say it would be harder to get your room request if it is a busy time of year. All you do is call reservations and ask if they can add a room request to your reservations.

I've also read that you need to keep your request as simple as possible, and it might be more likely to be honored :)

I've had maybe a 50% success rate when it comes to getting my requests. It just depends on how busy the resort is when you are staying there. I've had even the most basic of requests (any place in the Bayou section of POR for example) not met, as the resort was at capacity.

But it never hurts to ask!

I have never requested a particular room, and was never dissatisfied where I was placed. I have been upgraded twice without asking. Once at AKL...received a room facing the main savanah. And then again at WL, we received an excellent view of the pool. And both upgrades were during the summer.

I go to WDW several times a year and always make a room request. They are usually pretty general though. 'Top floor close to elevator' if at a Deluxe. 'First floor close to transporation' at a Value. ' First floor Cabanas' at CSR. 'First floor buildings 2, 3, 4, or 5' at POFQ etc. I usually get my requests about 70% of the time. The more specific you are, the less chance you have of getting the request (for example, top floor, corner room, facing the river, building 2)

My success rate is 100%, but we've only stayed on the property twice.

The first time the only request I had was a king bed - I got one.
The second was a ground floor room and a pack n play - I got both.

If those things had not been available when I checked in, I would not have gotten them.
