Room Requests?

Are people still making special room requests and getting them? Back in 2009 when i was planning our first Disney Trip so many people on this board were discussing and planning how to call and what to ask for. I haven't seen much of that while planning this trip.
But I didn't want to miss an opportunity to get a better room. We have booked a woods view bunk bed room for WL. Is there a specific area or something I need to call and ask for to get a great room?:confused3

Since you've already booked a woods view room, ask for the north side and up as high as you can get a room. You may be able to see the fireworks at MK. Our first trip in 2005, we got a room like that by chance. We plan on making the same request this June. Enjoy your trip!

Do you ask for the specific requests at check-in or a few weeks before? Don't they usually fill up the rooms first come? For instance, others who got woods view would be filled first.

We always put in a request before we go. So far we've gotten everything we've asked for. Good luck!

I always make room requests as I'm making the reservation. I just have the CRO CM add them under requests. You can call anytime to have a CM add them though.

As the PP stated, requests can be made at the time of reservation. You should do that up to about five days before you check-in, which is when CRO begins to roll over the reservations to the resort room assigner, who assigns general locations.

You should keep your requests generic in nature, list as few as possible, and in the order of their importance to you. With the new computer system, the requests are automatically sorted.

If you do online check-in, you have to indicate a time of arrival and the computer also locates a room that is already available in inventory.

When you arrive at the resort, the CM will see the first available room on the computer. It may or may not meet your requests. You kindly remind the CM of your requests and let them know you will not mind waiting to get into your room. They will see if they are able to find something else that meets your requests.

Depending on how busy the resort is and other factors (like maintenance issues, refurbishments that take blocks of rooms out of inventory, people not checking out early enough, etc.), they may or may not be able to meet that request. But they will certainly do their best.

So for a good woods view room I ask for a room on the north side as high up as possible?

So if you make a request at the time of reservation... And then do online check-in, does the online check-in cancel out the request?
We requested a specific longhouse at the Poly. Our online checkin window opens next week. Wondering whether it is worthwhile to do online check in.
