Room Requests

If you have a room request, is it enough to simply have it mentioned on your reservation or would you also recommend that I call or fax it a few days before our arrival? I know that at WDW they discourage faxing, but I am not sure what the Disneyland system is.

We just requested adjoining rooms on our reservation and that was enough for us.
