I think I have called Member Services in the past for room requests but was wondering if there are better results if I call the property directly where the assignments are made. (This is for a BLT trip in 3 weeks.)

Thanks all.

Member Services.

Even cash guests are better off making requests through the regular reservation line.

It's actually fairly difficult to get to the resort itself when calling, and most locations do not consider faxed requests any longer, from what I understand.

Any requests I have made through MS have been on my reservation, because they have always been commented on by the resort staff at check-in (and we've gotten our requests as well).

DVC resorts do not accept faxes. Just call MS and make your request.

Don't forget that you can always ask for a specific room or view at checkin. In my experience I have had good luck at checkin. I have had waitlists for upgrades and extra nights added not come through before we left home. Upon arival at the checkin desk we were granted our requests. I think its because the resort itself can offer you non DVC inventory. DVC MS can not offer you these rooms. Of course there is no guarantee, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

For requests, you want to call MS. Calls to the published resort numbers go to a call center, not to the resorts themselves. They'll answer "Disney's Bay Lake Towers", or something like that, but they're not physically located at the resort.
