We currently have a standard view booked at Grand Californian Sept 10-14th. Is there a certain room I should request? Is this something I can do? I will be traveling with two young kids who will be doing mid day breaks. Any advice for me?

Thanks!

My two cents from staying there over 15 times:

- The pool view rooms are pretty, but loud, lots of noise and activity at the pool area, even after closing.

- We don't like the valet parking view rooms either for the same reason. But they're obviously not called that  just ask NOT to overlook the valet.

- You can always ask if park view rooms are available. No harm in asking. We love 4343

- We prefer to stay in the standard rooms that are in the Napa Rose elevators as you have more of a chance of getting a "monorail view" room where the monorail passes by.

Enjoy! And don't forget to do the private Build-A-Bear where you get to go into the store 1 hr early, or the free Walking class when you walk through DCA before it opens, and get the Park Treasure Maps!

There are a couple requests you might want to make:
Location: a room near the elevators adjacent to Napa Rose. This area allows easy access to the DCA entrance.
Bed type: 2 queens are most common, but 1 queen and a bunk bed might be nice with 2 kids.
View: high floor, or park view (these are not standard view, but it does not hurt to ask)

It's a good idea to check in as early as possible.

There will be many guests using the Dapper Day rates, which are all standard view. This might create some "over booking" of standard view (I'm speculating), so there will be some free upgrades to better view types.

Do you just call the hotel and make these requests? Maybe a dumb question but as we are there for 11 days I would love to have an awesome view or convenient and not have to walk too far).

when we stayed there last time, we called and made the requests. we were told while they couldn't guarantee them (such as wanting a room with a king bed) they would make note of it.

11 days, that's nice :goodvibes
While checking in, make your requests clear to the CM (even if you called in advance) and also let the CM know you are willing to wait for a "better" room.

Never in a kazillion years could I afford this but due to DD dancing in the parade on the 11th and 12th we got a fab rate ($214/night) so we are splurging and staying in Cali for 2 weeks. Our parkhoppers were cheap too ($234 for a 6 day..yup 6 day!)

I will call and see what I can do...just have to wrap my head around what I actually want ha ha.

Do people who get DD rates, do they all dress up dandy or it is just a special rate for the day and Disney does just doent give a hoot.

Thank you so much for the information. I will call and ask for the rooms close to the Napa Rose elevators. That will definitely help with the mid day breaks!

Jack...you can book the Dapper Day rate without planning to dress up!

Disney does not check(we have booked that rate for the past two Spring events, and we didn't dress up).

We did sign up for the emails/alerts on the Dapper Day website, and have bought some of the merchandise, and we LOVE being in the Parks during that weekend to see/watch everyone that dresses up, but you are not required to "Dress"!:)

I agree with asking for a room near the NR elevators. :thumbsup2

And it's true about the DD rates. We have booked them twice. I have to say as two adult women who go to DLR often, the DD crowd is quite a pleasant one. Everyone is so classy, polite and friendly. Plus it's really cool to people watch and check out all the outfits. The only drawback I would mention is that it is hot in early Sept. My lipstick was melting off!

Guys I think she means Dear Daughter dancing in the parade, not Dapper Days....unless she got that rate because it's during the dapper days period? Lol

I believe those of us posting/asking questions about Dapper Days rates, were in response to the post of Nonsuch(post #3)---who was the first to mention the DD rates in September.:)
