In December, we are staying in a two bedroom villa at the Wilderness Lodge on points rented from a DVC member.

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I was wondering if there is any way to request a specific room location when staying at a DVC property on points. In the past, we have always faxed a very polite room request, and we have had great luck. However, we have never stayed at a DVC resort, so we don't know how it works there.

Thanks so much!:sunny:

The owner has to make the request for you and it will be put into the system. DVC doesn't take faxes for requests.

Our favorite view at the VWL is a quiet pool view on an upper floor. Keep in mind that there are not to many of these views compared with the woods view that most of the rooms have.

Good luck and have a great trip.

Also, keep in mind that DVC constantly reminds us that requests are just that...requests. They may or may not be able to meet all or any of them. I think they try their best, but inevitably people show up who think the request is the same as a guarantee and get upset or bummed out by their room.

Good luck, and enjoy your trip! :)

We just returned from a stay at VWL in a 2-bedroom villa, and had requested a lake view when we made the ressie. When I checked in I mentioned this. The CM was very nice and looked for all the 2-bedroom villas becoming available that day, and I was able to choose which one I wanted. None were on the lake side, however, and I went for the only one available immediately.

We were in 3556 which is almost all the way to the end of the hall. It was a pretty long walk. It was ok for us, but I can see that it might be a problem for some. There were still plenty of trees on the non-lake side, but we could also see a couple access roads, the top of another small building and the bus stop in the distance. While not as idyllic as I imagine the other side of the building would have been, it was fine and not noisy at all. It was too hot to spend much time on the balcony in August anyway!

Enjoy your trip.

In case you were wondering, you will not be treated as second-class because you are renting. Your request has the same chance of being fulfilled as anyone else's.

Actually, at this point in time I really hope that they honor the requests of the reservations that were made at 11 months out, not 3 months out!

I guess that didn't come out right. What I am saying is that people (like me for example) make reservations at 11 months with requests. Does it still work that way?

GEM, I hope you enjoy VWL as much as we do!

Sort of. If the VWL is pre-assigning rooms, those rooms are pre-assigned in the order the ressie was made. If they are using the new room ready policy(which I believe they are to some extent) basically whoever checks-in first wins. Also, if someone checks-in before you , and their assigned room isn't suitable to them, they can bump you out of your pre-assigned room. I hope that made sense.
