I know at WDW there is much talk and debate over faxing in room requests prior to your arrival.....overall I don't think they carry too much weight....that has been my experience anyway...

We are staying at DLH from June 27-July 3rd with a combo of DVC points and standard reservation...we have a standard view room reserved...do I need to reconfirm or make any additional requests?

I booked through Disney reservations..thanks

In terms of the view, all of the standard rooms are pretty much created equally. Basically, the DLH is three rectangular towers in a U-shape around a pool. All of the three sides facing the poor are "resort" or "pool" view. A few of the rooms on these sides with an obstructed view of the pool are also designated as "standard," and these are probably the best of the rooms.

Most of the standard view rooms, however, are the sides of two of the towers facing the parking lot -- the "Marina" tower and the "Bonita" tower.

I think the Marina tower is much better. You are closer to the parks and closer to the restraurants and lobby. So for a standard view room, if it were me, I would put a note on the reservation for a room in the Marina tower. Otherwise, it's nothing at all like WDW rooms and views. Upgrades, by the way, seem far less prevalent at DL.

As someone who has stayed in the Sierra and Bonita Towers (5 times total) I can tell you that the standard view in the Sierra will likely be a lower level with either a DTD view or a view of the pool. I usually book through Expedia and always end up with either that or the Bonita. A standard view in the Bonita will have a view of the parking lot and maybe a small sliver of DCA. One time they had me booked into a second floor room in the Sierra and I asked if they had anything with a pool view in the Bonita. We ended up on around the 9th floor with a great view of the Matterhorn and Big Thunder Mountain. So many people have heard horror stories about how far the walk is to the parks and DTD, they don't want to stay in that tower. I think the CM's get so sick of people whining about the Bonita that if you ask to get into that Tower they may treat you to a nice upgrade! If you say at check in do you have any pool view rooms in the Bonita you may luck out as we did. I think it is maybe one minute further and considering all the walking you will do, that is not a big deal. I happen to love the Bonita the best regardless of what side we are on. Walking through the fountains and looking at the Koi ponds is very nice for us. I love the DLH and I am sure you will too!
