Was going to do on-line check in yesterday & was going to put a specific room number request on there, but there is not an area to really do that on the on-line check in form. Is there a number to call to add a room # to your request?

Also, for on-line reservation requests, when the 7 month window opens up when does the reservation window open up at midnight or at 0800 est?

Call Member Services. It's best to ask for what you want (near elevator, high floor, etc.) than a specific room number. Much better chance of success.

Requesting a specific room number is a recipe for disappointment with DVC reservations.

What are the chances that the room will be available on the day you are checking in? If the room is not available, the room assigner will have no idea why you wanted that particular room. You'll get whatever he/she can find to fit your stay.

Much better to request what you want in general - close to the elevators, near bus stop, high floor, etc.

Enjoy your stay!

Agree with Chuck & Vicki. Remember this isn't a cruise ship where everyone arrives and departs on the same day. The room you wish to ask for could be occupied when you arrive, it could be out of service for maintenance or otherwise unavailable.

I would make two recommendations:

1) Put one or two general requests on the reservation.

2) Do NOT use online check-in. The online check-in process is designed for guests who want the grab-and-go resort front desk experience. At its best, by the time you arrive at the resort your room has already been assigned (may even be ready), keys printed and you'll spend about 30 seconds at the front desk. If you have specific high-priority requests to discuss with front desk staffers, just go the traditional check-in route and handle all of that when you arrive. Please don't make other folks standing in the online check-in queue wait while you debate your room assignment with a CM.

Thanks for all the advice.

I would never tie up an on-line check in cast member to change things. I have never in all my years at DVC made a specific room request, but saw a great studio at BCV pic & thought I would ask.
