Room request with online check in

We have a trip planned for the second week of August and are staying at Pop. We were hoping to request one of the buildings closer to the skyliner. We did not book preferred but saw on the resort map that there are some standard rooms on the backside of certain buildings. We have an early flight and will be arriving at the resort around 10:00 am. We will be leaving our luggage with bell services and heading to Blizzard Beach and probably not returning to the resort until 5 if the weather permits. We are using an authorized Disney Travel agent, and she has put in the room request. What would be the best way to check-in in order to try to get what we were hoping for? Do we stop at the front desk as soon as we arrive even though it is that early in the morning and check with them to see if our room was assigned yet and if needed ask for a different building? Should we just wait until we get back from BB and then ask to see if they can move us if needed? or should we attempt online check? If we did the online check in and did not receive what we are hoping for, are you still able to go to the front desk and ask for a room change? I know nothing is guarantee. I have never asked for a room change at the front desk before and didn't know if that was common. I also did not want to upset any cast members or seem too demanding. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you’re worried the request isn’t on the reservation then stop in upon arrival to make sure it’s noted.

Beyond that, once your room is assigned you can look it up online and see where it is. If it’s not where you requested you can stop by the front desk and ask if they have any rooms in your requested area. They’ll do what they can but like you said, nothing is guaranteed.

I would check in the morning. I had a standard room on 4th floor that I could see the line for Skyliner. Also could see them in the air.

Thank you for all the suggestions- I just wasn’t sure if stopping that early in the morning was too early! The view from the 4th floor 60’s building looks perfect!!!

Add me to going to the desk when you arrive and just politely ask if you got your room request. I’d do it when you arrive because if they didn’t give you your room request, there’s more of a chance you can be moved early than waiting till 5:00 when people have already arrived and got their room.

Can you do the room request feature with Touring Plans? In addition to asking when you’re there, that might help ensure you get what you’re looking for

I will check when we first get there then :) I wasn’t sure if they were allowed to do anything with our room if it was before official check-in time. I’m happy to hear that even if we can’t officially get into our room, we can still ask about our requests and that there may be a chance of changing our location if there is availability.

I have never used them for that before but I think that is a great idea! …We had requested a specific building in Jamaica when we stayed at CBR in 2018 (not through touring plans) . We didn’t arrive until after 8 pm and got a room in the Martinique section before the renovations were complete. Even though I was initially disappointed, I never asked if there was something else available. The cast member at the front desk was super sweet and was making a big deal about it being my kids first visit which they loved. I didn’t want to seem annoying by asking lol it ended up being a wonderful area though- we ended up getting a great room facing the lake, we were super close to the quick service and bus stop. Plus we were the first pick up and drop off spot for the busses all with a standard room. So I have learned to still have an open mind if we don’t get our request :)

Yes. Touringplans.com is a paid subscription, about $17 a year.

I just bit the bullet and signed up for the touring plans subscription. Hopefully, we will get lucky!!! Thank you for all the help and advice- I really appreciate it!!!

I had good luck using Touring Plans as well, but definitely double check with the reservations people. The last time we were there, we requested first floor in front of pool through Touring Plans. We ended up not getting the room we wanted, not because of the reservation request but because when we got there, our luggage was in the room we wanted, but so was someone elses things. After checking with the desk, they notified us that they decided to extend their stay so we were moved to a room that was definitely not what we requested. It bothers me more that our luggage was placed in a room someone else was staying in!

I did not get anything even close to what I asked for one time when I tried Touring Plans. However, when I got to the front desk, they were able to at least get me into the building (ASSp) I wanted.
