Can't wait to see the answers to this. I was going to post something similar, as we have the same question. So thanks for starting the post!

What category: Value, Standard View, Savanna View or Concierge Level?

The link below is a map of the 5th floor of Jambo House. The Values are along the Ostrich & Giraffe Trails and most of the Standard Views are along the Zebra Trail facing the Uzima Pool. There are some Standard Views all around Jambo House as they were reclassified out of the Savanna View due to limited or poor views of the Savanna.

If mobility isn't an issue, I'd request (and hope for) a reclassified studio. Got a great view of the animals from one. If mobility is an issue, ask for "near elevator". Several times, I've been across from a lovely little bench where I could sit and watch the giraffes.

We we lucky to get a reclassified, I requested far from the lobby and Sunset Savannah. It was one of the most magical moments to walk into the room and have a giraffe outside our window!!

Thank you!! Are the reclassified rooms far from the elevator, then? We don't have mobility issues but I'm trying to figure out what to say when I make my room request. Thanks!

Anytime I get a standard studio at Jambo it is always pool view and they have been near the lobby, or elevator. The hallways are not as long as Kidani's. I always request "close to lobby" and been pleased.

The reclassified rooms are pretty far off from lobby we were in 5356; not to far of a walk from elevators

Ok, so basically it comes down to whether or not I want to be close to the elevator/lobby? There aren't really any other things I should consider for a room request?

Just back from a trip where 2 different sisters had studios that were Jambo House standard view but they had a savanna view. The first room was 5545 Zebra Trail. It had a view of a "people pen" and a view of an area where they may have kept young and nesting animals. Around 9:20a it seemed that they moved the animals from one area to another and a worker opened a gate and would ring a bell and a group of animals would walk/run by but then be gone until the next morning. They may have herded them the other way in the evening but no one was in the room at that time. The area that had the young/nesting animals had a vulture sitting on a nest and some kind of young animal hiding in a brushy area. But most of the animal action happened from about 9:20 to 9:40p although it was still a nice view. Better than our 2 bedroom value view over the parking lot! The second standard studio with a savanna view was 5522. This room seemed to have some sort of animal in view at all times. I seem to recall it overlooked a watering hole. Both rooms had good access to the swimming pool and Mara.

We have a standard studio reserved for race weekend for the Expedition Everest Challenge. We pack very light because I like to do a load or three of laundry, but we are normally staying in 1BR's. Since we are doing a studio this time, I was in a catch-22 situation for room requests. On one hand, I don't want to have to lug laundry a significant distance so I'd want "close to lobby". On the other hand, since the race is at 10pm and we plan to be sleeping in the afternoon (from about 2-6pm), we don't want a lot of noise from the pool or lobby so one of the reclassified "outlying" rooms would be better. In the end, I requested "close to lobby" and I just hope that the noise won't bother us too much.

We have a savanna view studio booked for this summer (we usually only book a std view tho so this is sort of a treat). I was planning to request the Arusha savanna and close to pool / Mara. I am hoping that the Arusha savanna will provide a good variety of animals. We had a std studio on the Sunset savanna last time we stayed there which I am pretty sure was one of the reclassified ones as there were only limited amounts of animals.
