Room request success?

I requested a king bed on MDE at YC. Got a text at 2:45pm that the room was ready. It ended up being two beds. We inquired at the front desk if any kings were available. She found one, all was good. However, it’s right next to the elevators and we are now listening to the constant vibration of the elevator shafts. :( housekeeping delivered a box fan to drown out the noise but you can still hear it. Not sure we’ll make it four nights.
If you get a chance or have time, go to the front desk and see if you can change rooms. New availability comes up daily.

I have used Touring Plans for the past several years and it has been hit or miss - our track recrod over the past several years is probably 50/50. Interestingly though, the few times I have gotten EXACLTY the room I requested were when I was staying at a value! I would expect that it would be MORE likely to have a request catered to at a Deluxe. I have stayed at Boardwalk and was placed no where near where I had requested, but actually LOVED the room that I was put in, and the same was true for a recent stay at Yacht. At Beach Club on a few trips, I was no where near what I had asked for. To be honest, for future trips I don't think I'll bother with requesting specific rooms or areas anymore, because as long as you book the room cateogry you want, you should be pretty close to what you are hoping for. I also think the more detail you give them the harder it is for them to find the right room.

I do completely agree with the prior poster who said the selections for online checkin used to be much better, and they were. While you were only able to prioritize two selections, there were many choices and they included specific buildins, beds, views, etc. Now often times they seem to have only one choice in both columns or nothing more than "close to lobby" or "close to transportation". Back in the day, I remember being able to request certain sections or buildings at the more spread out resorts but that seems to be long gone.

I've had my best luck calling directly and asking them to note a specific building at POFQ. My deluxe requests are typically ignored. Best luck at deluxe has been BWI.

Yes this was true in an much earlier release of the code. However it was wrong very wrong. It had no rules or logic to constrain you to the class of your booking category.

For example if you booked a standard room you still got a full list of all the buildings at the Poly including the Hawaii CL only building. They then pulled it and we now have the very limited options currently available

We just returned from WDW and stayed at the Yacht Club. We were not arriving until midnight of our first night so I had my room assignment before we even left the house. We were not happy with the room assignment so I called the Yacht Club - realize it goes to a call center - told them I would like to speak with someone at the Yacht Club regarding my room assignment. They told me they would send a message to the Yacht Club and someone would call me. I did get a call back and they were able to find another room that was a better fit for us.

Be aware that they are doing a lot of work on the outside of the hotel. This has taken a good deal of rooms out of inventory. The rooms along the water side (front side) when looking at it from Crescent Lake are the most affected by the work. Garden view rooms are primary along the side of the hotel facing the quiet pool. Waterview rooms by Storm Along Bay are pretty much unaffected.

Also, when you arrive if you are not pleased with the room assignment (you can look at exact location on Touring Plans) you can go to the front desk and ask if there is another room available.
