Room Request Question

Hi All! I just made a reservation for a split stay at the Polynesian for 3 days and the Beach Club for four days in November. I was able to book Standard rooms for both (availability was so limited!).

So I have seen that people are saying you are able to make room requests before your trip. I was hoping for some suggestions on what you would request location wise if you were staying at these resorts because I am clueless! Thank you so much!

If you don't get many replies here, I'd suggest posting this same question in the official Poly thread and the official Yacht/Beach Club thread. I'm not familiar enough with them to make specific suggestions, but you can also add general requests like "close to lobby" or "not next to an elevator" "ground floor" etc... And, remember that requests are just that; there are times they won't have any availability in your requested area.

What would I request? A room with a full balcony.
  • At the Poly, that's the 3rd floor rooms, 2nd floor rooms have no balcony (except in DVC buildings, those have balconies)
  • At the BC, I don't know. Some rooms have a full balcony, some have a small balcony, others have tiny "standing" balcony, many have none. So we always stay at the YC where every (non-ground-floor) room has a full balcony.
But you should head over to the Touring Plans pages where they have views from many rooms at each resort, and you can sort by room type and maybe you'll find something you like the idea of.

Polynesian:
High floor, Tokelau building (usually a quiet building, and within walking distance to TTC)

Beach Club:
High floor, garden view, away from elevator

We like our rooms quiet and away from the noise. :earsboy:

Just a little tip regarding room requests. Do not use the "Room Request" feature when doing online check in. This overrides any notes that a Cast Member places on the reservation. Instead, call the resort reservations line and have the Cast Member place the room request manually. Be sure to do this about 2 weeks prior to arrival. Call again the day prior to arrival and confirm the request is still on the reservation. The Cast Members who assign rooms do so a week or two in advance.

Bonus tip - If you arrive at the resort early that day (around 8 AM local time), ask a Cast Member at the front desk to call the back office and see if they can fulfill your room request. I've had tremendous luck using this method, as the back office can quite literally tell you what rooms will be available that day.

Good luck!

For someone with a toddler this is great advice! A full balcony would be a great place for us to hang out while she is sleeping.

Thank you for explaining this process for me! My next question would have been how to make a room request :)

Did you book a studio villa at the Polynesian? If not, then you will not be able to request Tokelau at the Polynesian- they are only DVC villas in that building.

If not DVC (renting points or on your own points), you can just call Disney and add the room requests to your reservation. Good Luck :)

For Poly, resort side, I would personally prioritize location and request Rarotonga, and as a second priority first/third floor for a balcony or patio. First floor if you’ve got a stroller or someone who requires the elevator. Flip the priorities if the balcony/patio is more important to you. I love Rarotonga’s proximity to the GCH, buses, and easy walk to the TTC.

For BC, I would request full balcony as a first priority if at all important to you, but otherwise I’d request close to lobby. I don’t think there’s any standard view worth requesting there but I could be wrong.
