Room Request Question for experienced renters

Hi, I have rented points directly from a member for my next trip. My room requests no longer appear in MDE online check in. I had asked the member upon setting up the rental to add room requests and he told me it wasn't something he could do. Was he mistaken? For DVC properties is this something that needs to go through member services? Can I call or does the member have to call? We are staying at SSR.
 
The member has to call to make requests. They never show up online. The requests that you enter during online checkin would override any requests made previously.
 
I rented multiple times in the past and have always made my own room request through the online check in on MDE
 
And remember, requests are essentials asking for favors. If you get it, awesome! Also, be prepared to not. Asked for a high floor and got the ground floor last time I made a request and there is flat nothing to be done about it as long as its in the category you booked like preferred or standard. So, I dont ask. Have gotten some insane locations by letting the dice roll.
 

Having MS add your room requests to your reservation allows for choices not listed on the online form.

YOU cannot call MS.

THE MEMBER can but may not feel like waiting 30 mins. on the phone to accomplish it.

However, you can do some generic requests thru online check in on MDE.
 
Thanks everyone for the input!! I understand that I may not get any requests granted, but you never get what you don't ask for so it doesn't hurt to try (and hope for pixie dust)
 
3x private renter here - I've used touring plans and their room view, as well as the boards here, to get a sense of what may or may not be a reasonable room request, and then ask the owner/member nicely at the same time I'm giving them the Magical Express information if they can also add a simple room request. It worked out really nicely at BLT where we had an oblique TP view in a LV 2BR, but it wasn't "pixie dust," as it was still a room in the room category that we had booked. At VGF, all I wanted was to make sure I didn't get the dreaded Standard Studio on the Second Floor with No View, so the room request was fairly simple - high floor, facing hotel entrance. We had a gorgeous view. Beach club, I think all I asked was to be close to an elevator, which we were. I definitely wouldn't hope for "pixie dust" for a larger room or a different room category from what was booked.
 
Also, any requests made during online check in will override the requests made previously by the member. If the person you're renting from didn't or wouldn't make any requests for you, then you might as well make them during online check in.
