Room request - no stairs

We are booked at Riverside in December and all the buildings don't have elevators!

My Mom has emphysema and can't do stairs. She can walk fine but absolutely cannot do stairs. I've told the cm the situation and requested a room on the 1st floor. Should I fax and/or call 5 days prior to the trip? I also requested to be near the main building. We have 2 rooms booked but only 1 must be on the 1st floor. Any other suggestions about what I should do?

Make sure your confirmation states that first floor is "required for medical reasons". If it does not so state, call reservations back until they do that. If need be, ask to speak to a supervisor.

Chesire Figment,

Oh..... my.... goodness!! Thank you, thank you!

When I originally made the ressie, I pleaded and told them about her situation. The confirmation said "ground floor requested-not guaranteed."

Because of your post, I called back today and again explained the problem. I told them it had to be just what you said - required for medical reasons and that I would gladly talk to a supervisor. No supervisor necessary! I just got the new confirmation by email. Now it says "Guest gtd ground floor - medical reasons." And, all because of your post! Thank you so much and mom thanks you, too!

:thumbsup2:thanks::yay:

I must have ground floor even if there is an elevator my wife can't do elevators and has such a bad ankle she can't do stairs either. I always call a couple of weeks before we arrive and again one week before then the day before. Once in a while they change it back to not guaranteed

We always have them put for medical reasons on our's for dd. She is autistic and has some muscle issues, she does not do stairs and we have always been on the first floor at CBR.

I was told there are only two resorts were you can get a guarantee for a first floor/ground floor and CBR is one of them because all their buildings don't have elevators.

For most of the resorts you can make a request, but you can't get a guaranteed first floor/ground floor. I went to a supervisor and special needs. I'll be at POP. If anyone knows different from this please tell me.

Yes, that is what I have heard. It is only an issue at the resorts with no elevators.

I request a ground floor at all resorts I stay at for personal reasons (not medical). As long as that is my only request, I have never had a problem getting ground floor.

Sometimes I have been placed in the boonies, but I'd rather have ground floor in the boonies, than have to deal with the elevator or stairs on a prime courtyard view room.

I had to put on the same request for mine.
If it isn't set up correctly when I get there, I plan on having a manager address the situation and get a 1st floor room for us.

You can't do anything but properly inform them. If they choose to ignore the special request, I will be sitting in the lobby camping out until they do. The lobby at most places is pretty nice, so that's not such a bad thing!
