Room Request Mistake?

I just made a reservation for the last week in March, 2004, at VWL. Last time we were there, we had a 1 BR on the third floor near the elevator, quiet pool view. It was perfect. This time, I wanted a dedicated 2 BR (with small kids, didn't want them to have access to an outside door). Now I wonder if my request for a dedicated 2 BR might hurt me in getting the location I want. If so, I'm willing to re-request for a 2 BR lock-off. The CM called the resort and they said they "had a few" dedicated 2 BR in the location I asked for. What do you guys think?

Also, do we know for sure whether a room request even works, or is it first come, first served as previously talked about on this site?

Don't take this wrong...but having had my 5 year old DD excape from our dedicated 2BR (she sleepwalks and moved a chair from in front of the door, moved the lock and a CM found her in the hallway at 4am) I personally wouldn't risk having a lock-off with small kids. I would keep the dedicated request and just hope for the best when it comes to the location.
If you really want to change to a lock-off I would invest in a hotel door alarm...which I am planning to buy before our next trip and put it on the lock-off door just to be safe...I don't want other families to go through what we did.

with kids I think I would stay with the dedicated. you are going back for several years and plenty of time to get the view you want - but think how you would feel if something happen to your children

See you in March! I too just made my ressies for last week of March '04 (VB 3/21 - 3/25, VWL 3/25 - 4/2).

Well, I'll be there the last week in March too!!! Today I was able to add April 1 2004 to the ressie, so I just need April 2 and I will have the full week at BWV. We want to change to OKW at the 7 month window, though....;)
