Okay....hearing all the debate about room requests has confused me.

I understand that the CM's official word when you make your reservation is "nothing is guaranteed" BUT, people are talking about FAXING a request in and it gets honored??

DH and I are going in March 3/12-3/17 and staying at POFQ and have gotten a king bed. Now, does this mean we've REQUESTED a king bed and might not get it or is this something that you RESERVE and pay more for? (I was under the impression they cost more). Also, does reserving a king bed increase our chances for a river view??

Help! I'm so foncused!!!! But still VERY VERY VERY x's 10 excited about going!

NO, if you reserved a king bed you have paid extra for it. Water view also costs more than standard view so you may want to inquire as to if you still need to request it or if all king beds are in the preferred view or not.

But if you paid for a king bed room, it's not a request. It's a paid catagory.

I can't answer most of your questions....but here is what works for us. POFQ is a very small resort. I always ask for a building as far away from the main building/food court as possible (that's either #1 or #7). Since most people request the opposite.......I have always gotten my request. I then nicely ask for an upgraded view (which for those buildings IS a river view). Last summer, we were in building 7.......and I am CERTAIN that there was no one else staying on that side of the building! We were facing the river and it was quiet and beautiful watching the various water craft go by. Good luck!

Re: faxing requsts, many of the resorts say they don't even look at faxes because they get too many of them. It's too much work to try to coordinate the information on the faxes with the requests that are already in the computer.
So, for things that are not room categories you are paying extra for, it's best to make all your requests at the time you make your reservation (list the most important first).

King beds at POFQ cost more than double bedded rooms. They don't charge more for a waterview King. All of the Kings cost the same. If you want riverview (dont' say waterview- the pool is waterview too) make sure you call and have it noted on your ressie.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to mention it before they start the whole check-in procedure. When we were there in Nov., there had to be plenty of empty rooms, and we didn't get our request for riverview because they said it wasn't noted on our ressie. When they told us where our room was, I said we requested riverview. She pretended (I believe she didn't want to redo the checkin stuff) to check and said there werent any available.

As an aside, the view you get at POFQ or any of the moderates isn't a big deal because you can't keep your curtains open anyway. The walkways are right outside your room, so everyone can see in - no privacy at all. We kept our curtains shut the entire time we were there.

As for faxing in a request - everything I've read says don't bother any more. They get so many faxes now that they tend to ignore them. Call CRO and have them note your requests on your ressie.
