Hi - I have visited Disney several times over the past few years and always stayed off site. We are going with friends next week and they convinced us to stay at the All Stars. We will be staying 3 nights at Movies and 4 nights at Music (movies was booked the last part of our stay so we had to switch). Is it true we can try to request a building/room? If so, any suggestions on what building/area we should request for Movies and Music and how to go about it? We are traveling with 3 young children (two 3 year olds and a 1 year old) so the kids will be napping and going to bed very early. Therefore, we are hoping for a fairly quiet room, but we also don't want to be too far from the pool, bus, and food court. I guess we want it all and I don't know if that's really possible! Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm excited to try more of the full Disney experience this time and I hope everything goes smoothly. Also, any tips on switching hotels midstream and how to make that as easy as possible would be great. Thank you so much! I'm learning so much from this forum - I just wish I had discovered it sooner.

We went to ASMo last year and my kids loved the Toy Story section, but if you want to be close to everything Fantasia is your best bet. Although I have heard they are the least quiet rooms due to heavy foot traffic(the price you pay for being close to everything). For more info about faxing room requests go to http://www.wdwig.com/cro1.htmSorry I can't tell you anything about ASMu but the All Ears website has lots of links telling about all of the resorts. Have fun:D

We stayed at the Movies a few years ago and really enjoyed it. If you request a room in the Toy Story section, you will not be disappointed. We were in the Buzz building and found the location to be great. We found the room very quiet, the view was of the courtyard, the parking lot was very close (but not too close), and it was a very quick walk to the playground, main pool, foodcourt, main building and bus stop. This is a non-preferred building, so you won't be charged extra.

For the Music, I would recommend requesting a room in the Calypso building (this is a preferred building, so just a head's up that they may charge you $10 more per night). If you do not wish to pay the extra $10, then request a room in one of the Jazz buildings. These are just beyond the Calypso building.

I would see if you can stay longer at the Movies. I think you'll be very happy there and we found it easier to manage than the Music. I found the Music spread out long, length wise and had a room originally in the Rock building (#4). It was quite a hike, especially at the end of the day from the bus stop. Attached is a link of a map of the Music & Movies, so you can see what I am talking about. This is just my opinion though.

Finally, regarding switching resorts. Since the Music is next door to the Movies, you have a few options.

1. Ask to borrow a luggage cart and wheel your luggage over to the Movies.
2. If you have a rental car, pack it up and bring it over.
3. Have the Music transfer your luggage over to the Movies. If you use this option, please keep in mind that your luggage will probably not appear at the next resort until sometime after 3pm.

With all 3 options, you can always go over to the Movies early, check-in and see if a room is available. If it is, great. If not, request your luggage be stored until it is ready.

We stayed at Music the last two times We also had 3 kids - one 6mos. & two 4 yr olds. We stayed in the 'Broadway' section. We were on the 'Main Street' & loved the location. We did not think that the walk was bad - it was nice walking by the main pool & water fountain. Broadway is close to the piano pool also. There is also a little playground close by. You can fax the hotel a couple of days before you leave & request the area that you want. We are staying in Movies on our next trip & we requested the Dalmation area when I made the reservations. I would look into staying a one hotel the whole time - you can walk to & from each of the All Stars & just look around at the different things each one has to offer - you can eat in any of the food courts also. With three little ones, I'm sure that you will have a 'few' extra things along - getting set up in one room & staying there would be a lot easier - instead of having to unpack & repack for the switch. You will have a great time no matter where you stay. Remember that you will never be able to see 'everything' - relax & enjoy seeing Disney through the eyes of your children - it is a Whole New World -- Remember the Magic!!!!;)

Thank you all so much for your advice and for sharing your experiences! It's great to be able to here people's first hand stories. We talked to our friends and faxed in our requests today -we'll see what happens! Thank you again.
