hi,
i have never made a room request before and I'm a little lost. when is the best time to make the request? Is it better to fax the request or call? I think I read somewhere that its better not to do online check in if you have made a request. Is that true? Thanks for your expertise!:confused3

Do it now. Call or e-mail the Disney reservation line and have it added to your reservation. I don't think it matters at all whether you check in online or not - as to whether you get your request.

I would call the reservation line and call the resort directly. I have made a room request the past 3 trips and done the online check in. My request has been granted every time.

There is no published direct line for the resorts; the listed numbers go to a CCC, where they pull up your ressie and either add it or read your requests back to you off the computer.

Last time I called in my request to WDW Travel and it was not met. I didn't do Online Check in. However, I did ask for a room change when I got there (didn't like the location) and got a great room.

I am worried about this trip as I am staying at AoA LM room. My flight doesn't get in until 8:40pm (I am travelling from the west coast). I am worried that if I don't like the room there will be no other alternatives since LM is probably going to be booked solid.

The only thing I really want is not to be on the first floor as I am female and travelling solo.

I am going to call in and stress that I am nervous about a first floor room and hope my request is granted

You should call to request "not first floor" and I'm confident your request will be granted. There are lots of people who want first floor rooms -- that is even an option to select for on-line check in for many resorts.

Requests are not guaranteed, depending on how busy the resort is.

I did on line check in twice at All Star Music.

Both times I requested a specific location.
Both times I had my request also noted on my reservation.
Both times I faxed my request in three days before arrival.
Both times I phoned the resort directly a day or two before my arrival and talked with a cast member who said they would do their best to honor my request.

Did I get my request???
Nope.
Both times the room allocated to me were the opposite of what I wanted.

However..... Both times the cast members did an amazing job finding a more suitable location and in the end it all worked out.

I just did online check in today for the FQ.
I hope my requests will be met but if not, I won't stress. I know that
Disney does a good job trying to make their guests happy.
I think being friendly and polite really helps!
