Room Rehab at Saratoga Springs

At VWL, we saw several comforters in plastic bags, waiting in the hallways. They were outside rooms that had been checked out. So at least at VWL, I know they wash those comforters! :thumbsup2

I'm soo very excited for this!! We are a family of 6 and so really lack in choices of resorts unless we pay for 2 rooms which we have done every time so far, well this yr in October we have booked SSR & I've been really worried ever since that even myself let alone my 3 boys would find this Disney enough, we loved AKL and the way they made it feel beautiful,

So have they already started these changes? Have they started them on the 2bed villas yet? It would make me feel so much more at ease to know the boys wasn't staying I a room full of flowery pics lol and that they have some Disney feel, by they way we Love the look of the pools even the quite ones and the location for us is perfect as we adore DTD so I'm not saying I don't like the resort just that I'm mega excited for that more feeling of Disney :)

I just saw the pictures....

It's much prettier than I had imagined. I'll need to see it in person before I decided if I prefer it to the previous bedding. I like the beige sofa...wasn't it green before?

Yes, Disney has started making renovations. Its being done building by building, so all the villas in a building -- two-bedrooms, one-bedrooms, studios, and grand villas -- are being renovated about the same time.

I know Disney has started in the Congress Park section of SSR (that is the section closest to Downtown Disney). I don't know which section will be renovated next, but the entire renovation project will extend into 2013.

I suppose you could request a renovated room when you are at SSR in October. I imagine that several buildings should be renovated by that time.

Maybe a Maximus like this is more to your liking?

In all seriousness, Disney has lots of great horse heroes, and they could highlight "real life" versions of each for the decor (like in the last picture.

I LOVE MAXIMUS!

Tried to find a Maximus plush last time at WDW and was disappointed not to find one. WOuld not mind seeing him on a pillow!

We live in teh real Saratoga Springs and have a horse farm. The equestrian theming at SSR would certainly be true to teh real thing and if done right can be beautiful.

Thanks for posting a link to pictures wdrl!

I like it! :thumbsup2

I don't remember the sofa looking like that (or that color anyways) in the studios. Are they different in the 1 bedroom+ rooms or are these new too?

would love to see a pic of a studio refurb

Sofas are being re-upholstered.

This is just a "soft goods" refurbishment. Other than changing some minor accessories like lamps, the only modifications are wall coverings, floor coverings, linens & upholstery. Furniture is the same.

I was really hoping they'd put the pull-out sleeper chair in them like they have at OKW, Vero, AKL & treehouses. My teens do not like to share a bed!

There isn't any room to add that sleeper chair. Same for BWV, BCV and VWL.

got 2 studio rooms booked in early May - one for my wife and daughter and the other for my parents... think we might get a refurbed room (we requested Congress Park)

anyone know the timeline for Congress Park?

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just got my new DVC Magazine and was irritated when I read about them putting Disney characters in the SSR rooms, so I wanted to find out if I was the only one who felt that way. Seeing actual pictures of the changes does make me feel better about it (they are not too overdone), but I still don't like the idea of it. I mean, I love Disney movies as much as the next person (probably even more!), but I don't like Disney's recent mentality that everything has to have a character slapped on it. There was a time when someone said something felt "Disney" they did not mean there were cartoon characters all over it, rather they were referring to the quality of the experience. To me, SSR has always felt like "Disney" because of its beauty, charm, solid theme, attention to detail, and exceptional guest service. No Maximus required. ;)

(P.S. I love Maximus)

Does the room rehab extend to the Treehouses too? We're headin' there on Dec. 9 and I'll wait to see what I really think once I see the pillows, etc...BUT I don't see that the Treehouses were/are on the "to do" list???

You are probably in the minority, the changes were based on member feedback. Of course we all know that when we like something we do not let anyone know so those that wanted more "Disney" complained.

I am with you though.

The tree houses are pretty new so if they will be remodeled it will be after all the other rooms are done. The soft goods remodel just started in February so it will be awhile.

The decor at Tree houses has always been different from the SSR so I doubt they will get the new Disney horse themed decor.

Congress Park is the first area to get the new decor then Springs will be next.
