Room Recommendations at AKL?

Hey all you AKL aficionados...I think we'll be staying at AKL 2nd week Nov. We have booked a savanna view room w/a queen and a bunk (the kids are thrilled). Does anyone have any particular room recommendations for prime animal viewing from their balcony?

We had room 4429. Bunk room w/queen bed.

It was (IMO) a great viewing spot, and it wasn't far from the pool or the restaurants.

We will be at AKL too-how do room recommendations work? Do you call ahead of time and request that room, or just request at check-in? We'd be very interested in more room recommendations-same type of room, Savannah room, one queen and bunks.

Hillbeans, could you tell me which trail room 4429 is on and what type of wildlife were you treated to?

We were in room 5522 on the Zebra Trail, queen w/bunk bed and loved it!

Room requests by specific room numbers are harder for the room assignor to fill. What you might want to do is go to the map of AKL ... I think there is one on this site ... and look at how the rooms are situation.

Last year we were on the third floor (lobby floor) with a view of Arusha Rock. It was magnificent. You could request a trail and then if you wanted to be close to the pool, restaurants, lobby, etc. you could let them know. In the past, we've also requested a certain floor and trail. At other times, we've requested a certain floor and specified a proxmity to food court, pool, etc. We not yet been disappointed. We prefer floors at the third floor level and not up on 5 and 6. That is why we don't do concierge ... plus they won't guarantee a savannah view room.

There are some rooms that are quite a hike from the lobby, etc. but some really like those as there is less traffic in the halls, etc. Depends on what you are looking for during your stay.

We were there in August and stayed in room 3371 on the Kudo Trail (Arusha Savanna). We thought that location was great, I would request that again. It is quite a hike from the lobby, but there's so much to see along the way.

We could see Ankole Cattle, Zebra, Giraffe, Bongo and Pink-Backed Pelican all day long. It was wonderful. You will LOVE this resort.

It was on the right trail if you're standing in the lobby. I think it's Arusha? We had a great view of the tip of the Rock. Our room was on the opposite side of Boma and the pool. We saw Zebra, Giraffe, Elk....lots and lots of animals. They give you a viewing guide in your room and they feed the animals right outside your window. It was wonderful. It's also close to the laundry if you take the elevator, and Simba's clubhouse.

In addition, while at the pool we saw tons of giraffe and birds, .

we just got back yesterday and had room 4503. it was on the arusha/zebra trail. it was fabulous - but the rooms a little bit father down would have been better (4515-4522) as they had a better view of a giraffe feeding station. I would have also preferred being a floor lower as the giraffes heads were mostly in the trees for our view!

very convienient to the pool and restaurants also.

have fun - it is an experience!
