We have a 5 night stay at the end of Jan 2023 at BWV in a Deluxe Studio Garden/Pool View. It will be 3 adults + 2 children (4 yrs old).

I'm looking for some advice for a room selection that can be fed into TP Room Request tool. I tried using their search to find something, but had some more questions.

Our plan is to RD each morning (3 day hoppers), head back to the room for a break/nap, and then hop to Epcot or DHS for the evening. We'd walk to EP and DHS, the kids will be in a rented Mini GT Double Stroller. We followed a similar plan with great success in September, but were staying at the Swan Reserve (which added more walking).

If we stay on the ground floor of BWV building 2 - is it possible to exit the buildings to get to the bus stop and DHS without walking to the elevators/lobby? I think we'd walk through the resort to get to EP anyway...

Also - assuming the weather cooperates, is there enough space to keep the stroller outside on the patio to free up the space inside the room? Not sure if they are "walk out" or have a fence/gate.

I was thinking of a room somewhere between 1123 & 1136 (whichever ones are the Studios) if the pathways in Blue can be used (see image).

thanks!

Yes, if you’re on the ground floor you can exit via the doors on either end of the hallway - near the tower on the right or the red end cap on the left of your map. We were in the two 2br lock offs at the 1136 end, and there was a dedicated studio between us and the door. Quickest walk to DHS from any Disney resort!

Unfortunately, the patios don’t have a fence and are not otherwise secured, so I wouldn’t plan to keep the stroller outside. That studio will be tight for the 5 of you, especially when all the beds are open!

Requesting a range of 13 rooms--of which only 4 or 5 match the reservation--is not a recipe for success. If you want to be on the ground floor to avoid elevators, request ground floor. Period. End of story.

Boardwalk is somewhat spread out. But if you're walking to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios--which are in opposite directions--you're going to be farther from one and closer to the other. Exact room location doesn't make much difference.

This may be a really stupid question, but if you left out the patio doors to go to the parks, how would you lock the doors without someone being in the room? Unless that is the plan, to have someone stay behind and lock up and meet at the bus stop. I don't believe you can lock them from the outside, this is to prevent a person from locking themselves out. I could be wrong!

You are correct. You cannot lock the patio doors from the outside. Guests are not meant to leave the room that way. Most ground floor patios are surrounded by shrubs that discourage people from walking through them. It's best to leave through the exits.

You are right. The patio doors cannot be locked from outside. I would not use them as an exit unless I were going to the pool and would be close enough to watch them. If going to the parks or elsewhere I’d use the building exits (after making sure patio doors and room doors were secured).

So we're clear; the reason you want to be on the first floor is so you don't have to use the elevator with the stroller? If that's the constraint, I'd simply request "first floor." People talk about how long the hallways are, but they really aren't that bad. For reference, the distance from one end of Kidani to the other is the same as the distance from the farthest room at BWV all the way to the International Gateway.

If, on the other hand, you want to put the stroller on the patio, I'd request "near elevator" or "near lobby."

On the map you provided in the original post with the blue lines, there are exits from the building where you are showing it for going to the bus station, and there is an exit right at the end of the building where you have the other blue line that actually walks right out to the path that goes to Studios and provides the shortest walk to Studios from BWV. However, there are only three pool/garden view studios in that area on the first floor and range of numbers you provided, 1130, 1132, and 1136 (the other rooms are 1BRs).

The issue you have in getting a requested room is that room location requests are not guaranteed. You may get whatever you request, but you could also end up elsewhere, and the more narrow the request (like requesting only any of the those three, first-floor studios in that area) the lower the chances of getting it. You may get lucky and get first floor in that area but if you get any other floor in that area your exit options will either be a long walk to the elevator or taking the stairs to the exits provided in that area. And when we have gone with two little ones in a double stroller, we never had any real problem taking the elevators, i.e., you may want to consider just requesting a room fairly close to the elevator.

The balconies and patios at BWV generally have enough room to put a two-kid stroller, but remaining room of the balcony or porch would be quite limited.

Thanks for the replies!

I was only considering leaving the stroller on the patio/porch, not leaving from it (I didn't consider the fact the door needed to be locked from the inside, so that's good to know).

I will request a first floor near the quiet pool, that should be fine. And we'll be happy with whatever room we get.
