just curious, if they use this room ready policy for assigning rooms, then do you think you would be far better off percentage wise in getting your requests if you checked in on a weekend? or do you think it would be a similar %

It seems far fewer members stay on fri and sat, meaning more rooms would be open, meaning more easily met requests. Basically in essence what you would be doing is beating every member arriving on sun

probably not worth it points wise for most, but maybe it could be an option for those really needing something. I think if I knew i was going to stay either a frid(at the end of the trip) or a sat(at the begining) I would choose the sat.

I think your logic is sound, in that it would seem that there should be more rooms to choose from during the weekend.

I don't know that anyone really knows if the weekends at DVC resorts have a lower occupancy than the weekdays. The unbalanced point system was set up to try to evenly distribute occupancy throughout the week, and it could be that the perception of the "super-informed" group here on the DIS Boards is just speculation based on the assumption that the majority of DVC owners avoid weekend stays.

Frankly, we have yet to see "room ready" in action. Every trip we've made our room has been clearly pre-assigned. It appears to be just one more thing that is hit or miss with the CM's at WDW. Not complaining, but it doesn't seem to be consistent.

While occupancy may not be as high on weekends as it is on weekdays, the rooms are not going empty. IMHO, the only advantage you may have if you check in on weekends is that cash customers may not have as many requests/knowledge of the resort as do DVC members who frequent this forum. I doubt the CMs distinguish between cash & points customers when the resort is following "room ready".

If your resort is known for "room ready", I still think the best advice is to arrive fairly early in the day - no matter what day of the week you check in. AFAIK, the BWV (the only one I have any experience with) do not use "room ready" in early December, so I don't worry much about it. Don't anyway, because we've never had a bad room there.

Best wishes -

When we got to OKW last week (on a Sat), we cheked in at about 1pm and were shown a map and given a choice of about 5 bldgs we could stay in. It was a nice surprise not only to be able to check in early, but to choose our room.

We have always stayed Sat to Sat and I have gotten into our rooms early most of our trips and have gotten my requests all but one of our trips (including two times getting Spaceship Earth views at BCV and many times having gotten Boardwalk View at BWV)

Not sure if we have been very lucky, or if the Sat checkin makes a difference, but we have always thought it was because it was Sat. :wizard:

hmmm all you guys had a secret all this time hugh? maybe all these polls going around should factor in if it was a weekend check in or not.

I too think "room ready" is not used so much during the busy DVC seasons when the resorts are booked to capacity. We have rarely gotten in early, but now that I think about it, it HAS usually been when we have checked in on a Sunday.
