Room options for people who like different room temperatures?

Staying on-site at WDW has been an interesting experience with my mother and I. I prefer to have the resort room on the colder side, whereas she prefers a warmer room. If I get my way, she's freezing. If she gets her way, I'm sweating. So lately, she's been the one to concede and we've been putting the spare blanket on her bed and the blanket off the bed I'm in on her bed. (along with the one that comes on the bed she's in)

I'm wondering if there's a better compromise to this.

We've been staying in resorts that have 2 queen bed configurations thus far, but I'm wondering if something with a separate bedroom would help?
Like maybe one of the one bedrooms at a DVC resort or maybe a family suite at AoA? Something where maybe a bedroom could be kept at a different temperature different than the rest of the unit so we're both comfortable, if that's even possible to do.

Any ideas?

I think the blanket solution you came up with is a good one. We've stayed at AoA and in both 1- and 2-bedroom villas and, if memory serves, there is still only one thermostat for the entire unit. Hopefully someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong about any of those rooms.

Can’t help you on thermostats but my mom and I are the same way. Since I can’t sleep when warm, she gets the blanket and wears fleece sweatpants and socks and it’s not a big deal. It’s easy to add layers in a cold room but pretty impossible to cool down in a warm room so we agreed this is the best solution. I’m sure you could also request additional blankets, they basically only put sheets on the bed anyways (is this a Florida thing? We use down comforters here in MN lol) which would probably help a lot, the extra weight makes a huge difference in warmth.

I am the one who get cold before anyone else in the room. I have been known to sleep in fleece pants and a fleece hoodie. If I get that, an extra blanket, and am still cold then the war is on. Then I will turn the temp up a smidge.

My only other idea is to get rooms. By the time you pay for a family suite you may as well have 2 rooms.

I’m the same way, in my case due to medical issues. My gf is the opposite and runs hot though. All I can really do is layer up. I use the extra blanket, sometimes we even call for another one.

I wish they hadn’t gotten rid of ceiling fans in so many resorts after refurbishments. They were really helpful in situations like this. Nowadays we travel with those USB fans, they help in a pinch.

setting aside cost, I DVC 2br lock off would be the best solution for 2 room temperatures

My husband gets hot so last trip we bought a small inexpensive fan that fit into the suitcase just for the trip. I purchased too many souvenirs so I didn't feel bad leaving it. As we were leaving we asked mousekeeping if she wanted it, she was thankful because she needed a fan for her baby's room.

Get separate rooms or compromise on the temp and set it in the middle of what each of you prefer. I hate a cold room, it messes with my sinus. And prefer not to have to bundle up like nanuk of the North. it’s a good thing my family also prefers to keep thermostat at 70 - 72. I love the ceiling fans, big mistake to have taken them out.

Yah, if we had this problem probably would stay cheap off site or just say the heck with it.

If luggage wasn't so expensive I definitely would. I'm sure people do, I know a lot of people bring their own sheets :scratchin
Two options come to mind- one rather expensive and one much cheaper. The more expensive option that others mentioned is a 2 bedroom lockoff at a DVC resort which is a 1 bedroom connected to a studio, each has their own thermostat. The cheaper option is to rent an owners locker and keep extra blankets & quilts for your mom and a small fan for you.

Not the most economical but my parents and I now need to get 2 different rooms as they sleep very hot (IMO - 76o) and we prefer around 69o. It became the only option for us as our sleeping temps are now so drastically different.
