We booked our room only reservation thru Disney with a AAA discount, but are considering converting to a package to get the dining plan (yes, I know it's not free anymore :( Didn't work for our dates anyway). Do I need to go thru AAA to get a package with the AAA discount, or can I just call CRO and have them change it? Also, how long can I wait to do that? I know if I do it now, it has to be paid off 45 days before check-in. Could I wait until, say, 2 weeks before to change to a package, then pay it off immediately? I know SOMEONE out there must have done this before  and can give me a clue! TIA

One thing I know for certain is that you cannot book a AAA discounted package through Disney CRO. You'll have to book that through a AAA travel agent.

Probably a good idea to make sure you can get the package reserved at a good price *before you cancel that discounted room-only, though.

:)

I agree with Aanna, book your package with AAA before you cancel. I had room only (booked thru CRO) and changed to AAA package that included dining, which I had to book directly with AAA. After all was set and deposit was made I cancelled CRO ressie. The package with AAA has to be paid in full 45 days before arrival. I think they even suggest a couple of days before that to be on the safe side (your TA will tell you).
I think the MYW dining is worth the change, and you still get to keep your room discount.

if I added the dining plan, but no tickets? Can that be done? I'm just trying to get the dining added to my existing reservation (made thru CRO w/AAA discount) without having to cancel and rebook with AAA. Thanks!

I think that once you add anything other than just the room, it is a package. And to do that with the AAA room discount, you need to go through AAA. You may also need to buy at least one days ticket for everyone on the reservation, but I am not sure about that.

at least 1 day park tickets. You must have a complete package...room, tickets and dining. But you don't need tickets for length of stay. One day will be fine.

As for when you should do it, I'm sure you could wait, but then you run the risk of there being no further AAA rooms available. You can't switch over your existing ressie and you don't want to cancel it until the new one is made, so if you wait, you don't have any assurance of availability.

Now I just have to decide what to do. Hopefully, we'll have the cash to pay off a package soon, then we can call AAA and get everything set with a new ressie, and cancel the old. Uh oh. I'm just thinking... would we need to rebook all our ADRs or will they still be OK with the old ressie # since it'll be the same phone #? :confused3 Anyone ever done this? Boy, I keep coming up with more questions. Good thing you guys are good at providing the answers! :cheer2:
