Ok. I currently have a room-only reservation for end of February. I didn't get a package cause I wasn't 1000% sure that we'd be going.

Now I am.

My question is this...

I want to add tickets for each of us at check in and use our room keys for park entrance etc (like we did last year on the MYW package). Has anyone ever done that?

Can they do that? Or is that only available with a package booking? Does anyone know for sure?

You can do that.

The concierge desk at your hotel will be able to add your tickets to your keycards. You have to purchase the tickets separately. If you try to call Disney to add tickets to your room only, it will be come a package, which means they will have to cancel your room only ressie, and rebook a package.

As long as they can do it at the front desk - that's awesome. And perfectly fine.

I would call back and switch to a package if I needed to.. but if I can just do as you say - that's awesome.

Thanks!

As long as you only want to add the tickets, I would just do it at the desk when you check in. However, if there is any possibility that you want to add dining, that can not be done at check-in.

Unless you are getting some kind of discount on the ticket, why not just do it ahead of time? If you add it to your ressie now you would get the $15 Planet Hollywood Meal Voucher, Sea Raycer offer where you pay for 60 mins. but get 90, Miniature Golf (which I think is a 2-for-1), and the Photo Movie DVD offer (not sure what this one is). Why stand in line twice if you don't have to?

Well at this point -- I've only had to pay Disney one nights room. Which of course virtually nothing compared to the whole cost of the vacation. However, if I call and switch to a package today - I am charged the whole amount today. That would be fine if it had to be that way -- it does not.

As far as I'm concerned why give them my money any sooner than I have to...

And no -- we're not adding dining.

Planet Hollywood and the other vouchers - no interest.

And we're already getting the Photomovie anyway..

Add to all that: to switch to a package now.. means cancelling the existing reservation and getting the refund of monies already deposited and then making an all new package reservation... The way I see that with less than 18 days before the trip -- that's just lots of opportunities for something to go wrong. :)

I do appreciate the responses. I've booked with a package before and probably will again. This time however, a few minutes at the front desk when we check-in is absolutely no big deal from my end.

I *was* thinking about buying an AP this time around cause I intend to go back later this year.. Just not sure if I can make that commitment this time around.. Tax refund not as big as I was hoping. :(
