Is that doable? or not possible?

I have gotten conflicting/or read conflicting information.

Thanks,
Christi

Yes and no. You cant convert a room only to a package. The room only res has to be cancelled and refunded and the new package made new. If you have a room reserved with a room only you wont lose it making it into a package

Yes it can be done. I've had room only and then received a PIN code. Changed it to a package, and added dining as well.

A package is through WDTC. A room only is not.
As mbanks stated the room only res will need to be cancelled and refunded.
First make sure you can book what you want with a package. Book that. Then cancel the room only res.
Normally there is no issues with doing this. However it does depend on availability under the promotion. That is why you do not want to cancel the room only first.
The WDTC package has differnet cancellation and payment policies too.

When I called Central Reservations they were able to convert my room only to a package. I didn't need to make two separate calls. They can check and see if there is package available to you, before canceling the room only.

I had received a PIN code, and originally booked a room only. Then we decided to add Dining and tickets to the reservation, I still kept the discounted rate on the room portion and paid additonally for the cost of the dining plan, and passes.

From everything on the guest side of things - it can be done.

Behind the scenes though - the room only reservation has to be cancelled, the deposit refunded and a new $200 deposit paid on the package.

You should right now have a confirmation number that's 12 digits long. When you switch it, you should receive a new 8 digit confirmation number.

Correct that it can be done in one phone call. Calling Disney will handle the room only and WDTC portions.

Yes but it depends on why you are moving to a package. I was getting conflicting information too, but I did it and complicated things with moving my reservation to a TA to boot.

If you are changing to a package to get a discount, it only depends on whether or not that resort has anymore discounted rooms available for that package. Just because you already have a room, doesn't mean that you can move it to a discounted package room if they are all booked up.

But, if you are moving to a package to add on dining, but not doing it for a discount, then no problem. Which is where I got stuck/confused. Everyone I spoke with confirmed I had up to 5 days prior to add on dining and no reference to dining limitations (I was paying for it). BUT I had to do a package to add on dining. And I also had to change from my room-only deposit requirements to the package deposit requirements. Which, since I was changing to a package 7 days prior, they refunded my room-only one night deposit then charged the full package price then/there. Net, net it was the same cost to me.

Along with all this, I put in a call to AAA to see if their package cost was less than the package cost through CRO. It was. So I also had AAA on the phone with CRO to transfer my reservation. No problemo.

HTH!

I read somewhere here there was a room only deal through an agent for the polynesian?

Anyone have that info.. trying to work some things out.
