Room Only Reservations

We are planning a trip for November 2014. My aunt, mom and I will be going for a girls trip. My aunt has not been to WDW since they opened back in the 70's so I am super excited for her. I have 2 questions.

1. How far in advance can I book a room only reservation?

2. Can I change it to a package at a later date and possibly add free dining if it should become available?

1. You can book room only now by calling. You will be quoted the highest rate for 2013 for that particular resort/room type, which will automatically be adjusted once the 2014 rates are released. New rates have typically come out in August, but have been released as early as June/July the last 2 years. A deposit equal to 1 night's room rate + tax will be required at time of booking. If you want to book a package or book online, you have to wait until the new rates come out.

2. You can change to a package later, but it's not as easy as just adding tickets (and DDP, if desired) to an existing room only reservation. If you book room only now and change to a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded, and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Room only and packages are different reservation systems, so money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. Also, you can add FD to your existing package or apply another discount should one be available, provided the resort/room type you want is available under that discount. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied.

Actually, I believe it's still a little too early to book for November 2014. Unless I'm mistaken, you can book room only up to 499 days out, which only gets you to the end of September 2014.

You're right.....it is the end of September 2014. I was looking at 2014 and not paying more attention to what month the OP was going. Thanks for pointing that out .
