Room Only Question

How far out can you book a room only reservation? We are going in June 2009 and I would like to book my room at least, I will add a package later. Online you can only book through 12/31/08. I thought I read somewhere that you could reserve a room 500 days out but am not sure if that is accurate. I could call Disney but thought I would give you all a chance to answer and share your knowledge.

My understanding is 499 days out from the last day of your vacation. We're thinking of going 5/9 - 5/16 and we could book now. I guess it depends on when in June you're going. I'd call if you're all set w/your dates. Have a wonderful vacation. Hope someone else comes along who can verify my info.

You can book a room only now.. but they'll just end up cancelling that room only when you call back to make a package reservation when those rates are released at the end of summer.

I'm not sure I see the benefit.. but lots of people do it.
