Room Only Now--Free Dining Later ??

I am currently booked with a AAA room only reservation thru Disney. If free dining comes out for the general public for my dates of stay, can I not call and ask them for a free dining package and cancel my room only reservation? I realize I will lose the room discount and may have to switch resorts or room types or other particulars of the room portion of the res, but can't they still do this if there is something available during my dates of stay?

Yes. They will cancel the room only booking and you will make a new reservation through WDTC for the package. I believe they have to refund your original deposit & charge the new deposit separately.

Yay! Thanks so much!! After reading several posts pertaining to this, I was beginning to worry that this was no longer possible. I haven't been to WDW in 2 years (WAY TOO LONG-lol) and was hoping things hadn't changed.

Yes, and as the pp said, they will cancel and refund the room only ressie and make the package ressie with a new deposit .
