Room only discounts for Fall?

I have been playing around all morning and I cannot get any dates earlier than Oct 25. Thinking of doing a split stay, first half at POFQ but I wanted longer dates on the second part of the split....have to keep trying I guess

OK, it's not just me then!

Our flight lands at 7:30pm on Wed Oct 24 so we are going to stay at the hotel at the airport and then transfer to the Poly early on Thursday morning to check-in and then head to EPCOT by 9:00am. I'm sure our room won't be ready so we'll just have bell services hold our luggage.

I am SO excited for this trip! When I went to bed last night I had no idea I'd be planning an Oct 2012 Disney trip today! I have never planned a trip this late in the game before.

No discount for me at POFQ Nov. 2-9. Actually, I would save $1 over my existing reservation, but certainly not worth hassle to apply. The explanation I was given is that not all my dates fall within the discount period and the discount at POFQ is only 5%. I would save about $170 if I change my reservation to CBR. I thought all the moderates had the same discount rate, but I guess not...

I got 20% off for music for Nove 29-30. I had hoped to be at POR, since we are already there for Dec 1st on, but no luck.

I was able to save another $400 this morning by switching two of my reservations to the AP rate. That's $1717 total saved. Yay!

I just called and saved $140 with the discount on my existing 7 night pop century reservation for october. The lady didn't even ask for the code she just took care of it too cool.

It's so funny, I was so anxious for the room discounts to come out and now that they have, I'm not even using them! I'm just keeping my free dining reservation instead! Hope everyone gets what they want!

I was hoping for a discount for BLT while we're there from Oct 23-28th. At least we saved $1300 with free dining for the 6 of us.

Nope. POFQ is a popular resort so they are not going to have problems filling it. It is 5% and was also 5% on the last 2 rounds of room only discounts.

If you have AAA you can get 15-20%. If you can move your dates back one day to start on Nov.1, you can get free dinning for your whole trip.

Btw, do you have an existing discount? because %5 off a std room POFQ for nov. 2-9 is $69, not $1. Also if you were to switch to a std room at POR, it would be $294 savings.

I was super excited to get the room discount but ended up going with free dining instead too!

I wasn't following this year's Disney discounts because we weren't planning on going this year. Well, when I saw the 25%-30% room discount on Deluxes we decided to go for DD's Fall Break and booked a package staying at the Poly. The package didn't include dining.

DH & I talked and decided to add the regular dining plan to our package so I called Disney today to add it. The CM told me about the free dining promotion and said it would save us more money than the room only discount. The room only discount would have saved us $536 but the free dining saved us $618. Thank you helpful Disney CM!

Yes, you have to do the math on all the available offers to see which one will save you the most. The AP saved me the most because I'm solo staying deluxe - so the dollar amount of the discount is much larger than the cost of the dining plan (or in my case, the OOP for food). But for families, especially with children who fall under adult dining, getting FD can save more than a RO discount. You shortchange yourself (sometimes literally) if you don't check all the options before booking your trip.

In the past I had a CM that was convinced I would save more with FD. But I had calculated it out. With FD we were only saving $700. With the RO we saved $1200. This guy kept pushing no matter what I said. I finally told him I was hanging up now. I wonder if he was trying to fill some quota.

Finally got the discount for the Polynesian this morning There was no standard rooms available since the discount came out for one of my days, only the most expensive rooms were available(way over my budget). This morning I looked again for the 100th time and there it was a standard view room for all my dates ! I had to look a couple times because I thought I was seeing things I called reservations as fast as I could ! I'm so happy !! I saved $627.76 !! I honestly did not think I would get a discount this time but Disney sure surprised me

Definitely, anybody that has not gotten their discount yet, check again! This morning on a whim, I checked for an AP discount again for my dates. They added some categories! Got it!

Yikes - I always worry about getting a CM that doesn't know what they are doing! Before I called I calculated what the new package total would be with dining added and when the CM gave me the quote it matched my calculation. But then she said I'd save more with the Free Dining and gave me that quote which was slightly lower (I didn't even realize there was free dining for our dates; this was a last minute trip so I hadn't been keeping up on 2012 discounts). I told her to switch it. After I hung up I checked the numbers and, yep, the Free Dining was a better deal for us this time around. Can't wait to eat at F&WF for freeeee!

I have found that the best rooms are available in the morning, so check in the morning and if you see it call right away . Yesterday morning I seen a few that I thought I might like but couldnt decide then by noon they were gone.

I booked Pop for Wed because 1-there was nothing available at the Poly and 2-our flight doesn't land until 7pm so I figured we'd stay somewhere cheaper that first night. I would love to surprise DH & DD and just head to the Poly instead of Pop but there is still nothing available at the Poly for that night. That night seems pretty booked solid everywhere!

I think the Gartner Symposium (an IT convention at the Dolphin) has many rooms blocked for the early part of that week. I've been looking for those dates also and many resorts open up after Wed Oct 24. I think Sept 17 is the last day for full refunds for those people that have booked rooms for the Symposium who need to cancel. So maybe something might open up after Sept 17? Good luck!
