Room-only discount...can it be applied to a package?

I have a good rate at the Poly from April 8-16 (peak season) that I got in November with the BDP discount code. With it, I'm saving about $1000 over the quoted price I'm getting for a 'vacation package' during the same time, at the same hotel, and with the same tickets.

But now I'm interested in the MYW Dining Plan, which I can't get unless I have a 'vacation package'. Does anyone know if WDW Reservations will allow me to upgrade to a vacation package and transfer the discounted room rate over to be applied to the package price?

It is my understanding that you can't. However, you can always call Disney reservations and see if they'll let you.

I had the same discount code for Feb, and they would not let me have the room discount on the package. In fact, you have to pay rack rate for your room! This is even during value season. Before you decide to do the package, take a look at what restaruant that are included, or should I say not included in the dining plan. A lot has changed since the old plans of last year. I am keeping my room discount, buying discounted tickets and just eating where I want! :flower1:

I hope that is not true. I called last night and spoke to a CM at CRO who told me that you can add tix and dining up to five days before arrival. I was planning on making a ressie, waiting for the room only code and then adding the extras.

According to what I was told, you can't do that. The two systems (room reservation only and packages) are two totally different systems so never the twain shall meet. :guilty:

that I should wait for a code to come out and then call back to book the room with the code along with the package. Since there'd been debate about this already, I really questioned her about it, but she said I could book a package using a code. She said the tix and dining would still be the full price, but the room would be discounted.

Some room only codes (such as PIN offers) have an related code that can be used to book a package using the discounted rates and others do not. Unfortunately because the code you are using is a 2004 code (that is, you had to book during 2004) and does not have a corresponding package discount for the MYW packages.

Will be there in Feb. and did book room only with a code and was not allowed to add tickets and dining (even tho I begged and pleaded :cloud9: ). One CM told me that a code would never be used with the MYW offers and then another CM told me because the code I had was from 2004 it wasn't allowed but future codes would be allowed.
With everything Disney - it's a wait and see kind of thing :cool1:

We want to book a package to include the dining option and I've been looking into this same question. So far, the only discount I know of is with AAA. I also read on different boards that "sometimes" there are WDW package discounts, but that they are usually last minute deals and you just never know when. Our next trip is Oct 15-23. The rack rate for a moderate during regular season is $149. So, for us, even paying full price for the room, we'd still save $ using the dining option. But, I've got time and I'm still not booking until I research this for every possible discount!

We were going to stay at a MOD then VWL, so I was already to go ahead and buy MYW tix. THEN, because of some health problems my MIL's been having (and we're her caretakers), we felt we just have to have the option to cancel at the last minute [well, a couple days prior] if we need to.
Sooo, what to do next? Wait for a good airline deal on SWA? Buy the tix, reserve resort room at AAA discount for now and change reservation to package when a good room rate comes out? What?!?!?
For us, the Dining Option would only save us about $20 a day (we're not big eaters), but it would give us the chance to try some of the more expensive restaurants we haven't tried yet.

Glad to know there're other Oct. 2005 planners in the same state!

I originally had a BDP code, and was told in no uncertain terms that I'd pay rack rate if I wanted to pay for the dining package. You might want to price it out what you would save by going with an AP rate. We ended up buying an AP and saving a total of $200 on our Contemporary garden wing room. We then bought the Disney Dining Experience Card for $50 (AP special) and will get 20 percent off our total bill at almost all the sitdown restaurants (as well as value and AK counter service). I like the DDE card better because it includes many sitdown restaurants that the dining package does not.

One suggestion, if you are staying for a while or going back sometime this year, you could buy AP passes and added the dining option that way.

and since it may or may not happen, I hate to spend the money for an AP...esp. when it seems that room codes have been released to the Disney VISA holders (I'm one) and general public, too. Ticket-wise, I think we're best off with the 7-day PH expiring tickets.

Thanks for the suggestions, though!

I was told the same thing...no dining added to a room only. I was trying to add dining to a 10 night stay. Can't do it.
