We are hoping for a room only discount and I would like to use the dining plan as well. However I had planned to save some money buying tickets through Undercover tourist. So...can you add dining to a discounted room? Without tickets thru WDW?

TIA!!!

No, the only folks that can add the dining plan without purchasing tickets are AP holders on an AP discounted room and DVC owners/renters.

I was able to add the dining to the discounted room rate as long as I added the park tickets first. So, online, I chose room only discount for the Poly 11/15 to 11/19. I added 5 day MWY tickets. The system then allowed me to add MWY dining for a grand total of $1971.38 for 2 people. When I tried booking the free dining offer, I received a quote for $2400.42. So it appears booking the room only discount and adding the tickets then the dining is a better deal.

I find room only and paying for dining at deluxe the best deal, and at a mod, the free dining is the better discount.
This Jan we are staying at WL, and I priced out both, we have APs but to book the GP discounts I had to add tickets, so with the room discount I added a 1 day ticket. Will switch when AP discounts come out.

Please note, the above 2 posters booked MYW packages, with the room portion discounted. There is no such thing as "adding tickets and dining to a room only reservation". This confuses so many people...

OP, no you can't do that. As PP's have mentioned, unless you have an annual pass or are a DVC member, you must purchase a Magic Your Way package, including a minimum one day base ticket, in order to purchase the DDP. If the room portion is eligible for a discount you may still get that, but it does require a park ticket purchase.

Hi,

Using Disney's Reservation System, I started off as a "Room Only Reservation". I then added the park tickets and then added the dining plan. At that point the reservation does become a MYW package. BUT, I started off as "Room Only Reservation". I guess it depends on how you look at it.

At the end of the day, to get the dining plan you need to add park tickets (through Disney) to your reservation.
