Room Only Code Warning

I just received my modified resservation from WDW today, after applying the new room only code.

I am so used to using the AP codes, it is a good thing I noticed.....

Payment is due in full, weeks before we arrive! This was not the case on our trip to the Poly in August, when we used an AP code.

If anybody has any information about this, please post and enlighten me!

:D

That happened to me on one of my reservations last year, I called and the CM said that it was an error. Room-only reservations require first night stay as deposit and balance due at ckeck-in. So you may want to call CRO to verify. Sometimes the computer adds the balance due in error.

You should double check on this. We got the Winter Room Only Rate offer and payment is due on arrival at the resort not weeks in advance

If you used a 4 letter code then the reservation is under Walt Disney Travel Co (WDTC). The terms you stated are for that agency. If you used a 3 letter code then you should have gotten a confirmation under CRO's terms. If you used a 3 letter code then I would call back and tell them that you wanted to book through CRO and NOT WDTC. They will be able to switch it for you so that your balance will not be needed til check in.

I agree with MAGICinMYHEART. We have a room only resv and I paid the deposit for the first night and the remainder is due upon check in. Call Disney Travel and verify.

This has been happening for quite a while ( 1 year+?) When WDW combined CRO and WDTC, the computer only prints out the payment schedule based on WDTC.

They (WDW) haven't been able or willing to change the computer code. I'm sure they look at it as "if people who book room only don't know the rules, and pay based on the printed confirmation, then so much better for Disney".

CRO and WDTC have not combined. They have talked about it for the last 2 years but has not happened. This error happened on the last 2 of my reservations. I just called them up and told them I wanted it under CRO and they did it. I got a new confirmation in the mail.

This has happened to me...for room only, somehow the computer still wants to think it's a package, so the printout shows a balance due. It's really not due til you check in. I'd call and make sure (that's what I did--twice) for your own peace of mind.

You might want to check to make sure you got "room only" and not a pkg. This happened to me the first time I called to make my res. for next April. The cm was a little confused, and even though I stated I wanted the room only rate, and she repeated to me that this code was for room only, she still booked me for a pkg. When she told me I had a basic pkg. and the deposit was $200 (rather than the first night's charge, as usual) I knew I was in trouble. She gave me a confirmation # that was 8 numbers instead of 12. Since this cm had seemed very confused anyway, I chose to hang up and dial right back to get it straightened out.

Sure enough, she had booked a pkg. rather than room only, with different deposit and final payment regulations. So, we got it all taken care of with little fuss.

I've also had the problem of previous posters, where I did get the room only rate, paid the deposit, but my confirmation sheet said I owed the balance in full prior to arrival. I simply called CRO, and they told me not to worry about it, sometimes the computer doesn't recognize the difference. So, I would check with CRO, just for peace of mind!!

CRO and WDTC may not technically be combined into one entity, but when I asked specifically for CRO the CM informed me that "We ALL (meaning all the CM's) handle BOTH CRO and WDTC reservations." She wasn't too pleasant about it.

Just thought I'd mention that so no newbies get the impressions that you call a separate number/separate company, etc. It's the same offices, phone numbers and CM's for both CRO and WDTC - but we consumers have to be knowledgeable about the codes/terms to make sure we are getting what we want.

Some of the CM's may make mistakes and book you into the wrong system or maybe sometimes there is a miscommunication between the consumer and the CM.

Oh the joys of booking with disney....lol!

Yes, you are right. Both CRO and WDTC are one in the same when calling. It has been that way as long as I can remember. The only difference it that WDTC adviertises with an 800 number which still takes you to the CRO/WDTC folks.

Thank you for all of the responses. I called and was told that my balance is not due until I arrive. :D

However, it still concerned me that on my reservations it stated that it was due earlier, so I asked them to send a new reservation, with the correct balance due date!

The CM was very helpful, but could not explain why the balance due was three weeks prior to our arrival.

I'm glad I saw this thread. I got my confirmation in the mail today from when I added the new code to my March, 2005 trip. It had the balance due 2/19/05. I called CRO and they said that was a mistake and I can pay it at checkin. I think I will call back later on just to make sure and request a new printout with this information on it.

Thanks for posting this information. I will be sure to be on the lookout for any problems.

I encountered the same situation when my confirmation came in the mail today. It showed my deposit paid, and then said my balance is due 1/26. We check in 2/16. I booked room-only with BDP. I usually pay off the room before arrival anyway, but I'm glad I saw this thread today.

Interesting...I got my confirmation today and it shows my balance due one month before I go too. I called today to change my dates a bit and specifically asked this question and she said the balance due was due at check in. This was before I got my notice. Sigh!

My confirmation said the same thing. Due 1/10 for a 1/31 check-in. I guess this means another call to CRO just to follow-up.

I'm glad to see that they're telling everyone they're not due until check-in (I hate to spend money before I have to!).

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread.

Mine is the same, balance due 1/26 for a 2/16 check-in. I'll probably just leave it because I was planning on paying it all before check-in anyway. Do they send a confirmation when the entire balance has been paid? If this is an error, then in concerns me there could be another error involved and the reservation not show I paid the entire balance prior to check in. Guess I'll need to take cancelled checks with me to be safe!

Thanks for the heads-up Mich-mouse! I received the same type of notice. I went ahead and called CRO and ultimately ended up speaking with a guest services supervisor, Ian. He explained to me that as long as there was any deposit put onto my ressie there is no way that the ressie would cancel out. (I told him I was concerned that if my balance wasn't paid by the printed date that my ressie would automatically cancel.) He did admit that this should not have been printed on our confirmations--that this was a room only ressie and therefore the balance was not due until check-in.
