Hi all,

We were scheduled to fly from Philly tomorrow and stay 2 nights at Pop Century before moving to OKW on Dec 28th. Because of the snowstorm that is scheduled to dump 20 inches on us tomorrow, our flight was cancelled and we need to cancel the 2 nights at Pop.

According to the Dreams Unlimited website, there is a 7-day cancellation policy for room-only reservations.

Does anyone know if Disney will waive this requirement due to a snowstorm or similar circumstance? I've e-mailed our travel agent but I'm still waiting for a response.

Just curious if anyone knows the answer...

They may waive the cancellation fee - which would be your first night room rate plus tax. It's entirely at the discretion of the cast member and/or Guest Services agent that your travel agent speaks to.

While I would hope that the Disney cast member would be understanding and waive the fee, I would plan on losing your deposit.

I'd push to talk to a supervisor if the CM wants to charge you the cancellation fees. This is a major snowstorm and it's no fault of yours or the thousands and thousands who never made it to their Christmas at home. MOST hotels are waiving these fees (no they don't technically have to, but for public relations they better or suffer the anger of the folks who already had their lives upended by the weather!).

I'd push it up the chain....I've heard in the past that Disney has allowed people to reschedule to a different time with no loss of money when a hurricane watch was in effect and folks either couldn't or didn't want to fly in during a potential hurricane. Seems that snow shouldn't be any different.

Same goes for the airlines....you should push it up the chain until you either get a refund or a credit without penalty for a future flight.

The travel agent called this morning and spoke to a manager at the Pop since the money and reservation had already been transferred there.

She was able to get my deposit back. :)

Congrats on getting your deposit back. I always get trip cancellation/interuption with my travel medical insurance. Esp. when we go in August-hurricane season.
Watching CNN now- sounds like a huge storm on the way, sorry it has shortened your WDW vacay.

I have a feeling that Disney will refund most deposits because they'll make it up with the people who can't get out of Orlando to places like NY, NJ, MA and further north. After all, it's great PR for Disney to say, "Sure, stay another night."

That could very well be Dreams Unlimiteds' cancellation policy. Disney's is still cancellations within 5 days prior to arrival forfeit one night's rate+tax. They are waiving some fees if you're cancelling due to weather. Unfortunately, your TA has to call to cancel for you.

hi I have a question. we are suppose to check in this sat Jan 14. we have a room only Res.
I am sitting in the hospital right now. my dad just had a heart attack. does anyone know if Disney will understand and do anything for us like not charge us if we aren't able to make it.

So sorry to hear about your Dad.

According to Allears this is the room only cancellation policy:

Cancellations up to the 6 day mark will have your deposit refunded in full. Cancellations after the 6 day mark will be charged the one night's deposit as a penalty. Any additional amounts that may have been paid on the reservation will be refunded in full. There is no time limit on when you can make modifications to an existing CRO reservation with no additional charge. This can be done right up to arrival.

I would definitely call Disney ASAP, tell them the situation and ask them how to proceed. Perhaps you can change your date (which as "I" read the above would be at no additional charge and you won't lose your deposit). IF you are allowed to change your date, then I wouldn't worry so much about WHEN....which you obviously can't deal with planning while worrying about your DAD, just pick something a month or two away...and then when you have time and brain power to think about it deal with it and change to a date that will actually work for you.

I hope that your father has a speedy recovery.
