Room only and free DDP?

is it possible to do a room only booking and get free DDP? From what I see you have to book a complete package in order to get the free DP. But we can get tickets cheaper through military IT office.

But you would have to pay for the DDP if you get a ticketless package. It would not be *free*.

The *Free* Dining offer requires that you pay the rack rate for the hotel room AND purchase tickets with a minimum of 2 park days and either hopping or water park fun.

You are probably going to come out better getting the room with the military discount, the tickets with the military discount and if you must have the DP pay for it. I'd run the numbers if I were you but when you get "free" dining you are paying rack rate for the room and don't always come out better.

I highly recommend crunching the numbers and evaluating whether the DDP fits your vacationing style. I've been back and forth over keeping the *free* dining package that I have booked for this fall for myself, my sister and her two adult daughters. Even with a room at an AP discount and buying the remaining tickets from a 3rd party, I can't beat the price that I got with *free* dining. I'm not a fan of the DDP, but I'm smart enough to recognize the better deal.

The free DDP isn't especially free. It gets paid for via margins on rack rate rooms + upgraded tickets, as Free Dining promos require Park Hoppers (PH is pure profit on top of the core ticket) or Water Parks (probably less margin than PH, but I always question how many people use their full Water Park entitlement. Unused entitlements = profit).

I agree with this too. Depending on at what level you stay (value, moderate, or deluxe) and the number of people you have in your party, free dining is not always the best deal. We are two adults with AP's and always stay at deluxe resorts. When I run the numbers to get free dining, I get sticker shock.

I'm pretty sure we're going to go with the military rates and paying food OOP, I was just trying to see if there was a way to 'justify' doing it, just to try it. Lol We're currently booked at SoG, that, combined with the SALUTE tickets.. It's really kind of a no brainer. w/o food costs, our trip right now for a family of 6 is at $1800, for a 7 night stay. Add in $500 for MVMCP, I figured another $2K for food (and that's probably high, but includes 3 TS/Character meals), we're still WAY below what I've been able to find on even AoA suite w/*free* QSDP. I just figured if I could find a way to get SOME discount... we might go for it. But looks like that is a no go.
