I have a question about resort room occupancy. We are planning a trip for 2 adults, 2 small kids (ages 3&4) and two babies. I know that babies do not count towards the room occupany, but is that a max of 1 per room? Will they really know if we have 2 babies staying in there since they do not need tickets or anything else like that? Just wondering a regular room at a value resort is totally out for us.
TIA!

1 baby does not count toward the room occupancy. The room occupancy is set by the fire codes. You would need to book two rooms or maybe look into a family suite at a value.

even if it were allowed, there is not enough room for 2 pack n plays in a value room

The babies will be 18 months and 2 months. The oldest may be in a pack n' play or may just stay in a bed with her brother and sister. The little baby will likely end up just sleeping with mom and dad to minimize the disruptions in the middle of the night to the other kids. I just can't imagne having to get another room because of a little 2 month old baby. I don't even really think that our sleeping arrangements would change if we had another room. That's why I am curious if they would even know that we had a little baby staying there with us...

I can't imagine that many people, including a 2 month old, in ONE room. The baby will still be waking at night, disrupting others. At Disney, everyone needs a good nights sleep! Have you been to Disney before? It truly is a "vacation" like no other!

Unless you have to use DME, I don't see how they will know about it. Also, when my DD was 2 mths, I just had her sleep in her stroller right next to me. It worked out great, as it reclined all the way down.

You could also try renting DVC points and getting a one bedroom as that adds extra space with the seperate master bedroom. Check out the DVC Rent/Trade thread.
HTH!!

I completely understand! Needing 2 rooms is not necessary (from a family perspective). The rooms are not very small (even all star rooms) and hve plenty of spare room with a little planning/organizing. I would call and ask a CM just as a general question...not necessarily give a name or intended travel date.

There is no way 6 people will fit in a standard room in a value resort. I stayed at AS Movies last fall with just me and my niece and while it was perfect for the two of us, I can't see how even four would be comfortable. Have you checked into a family suite?

But it's only 2 adults. :) Heck, all 4 kids could probably share the other bed.

Yes, I've done it before back in '79. I was one of the 4 kids. :)

i'm not entirely sure this is correct. (i'm not entirely sure it is incorrect either though.) when we went last year we stayed in a villa that was coded for 8. we had 8 plus a baby and disney said the baby did not count in the total and that would be fine.

i think the op should call disney and double check with them. if it was just 1 baby i'm sure it wouldn't be an issue but with 2 it could possibly be. :confused3

Yes two babies would make it over occupancy. You can have 4 plus 1 under three making max 5 total. Try POR with the trundle unit. They have a occupancy of 5 plus 1 under 3.

I think it is all what people are used to. We stayed at ASSp with 2 adults and 3 & 5 yos. Just by moving the table to infront of the window we were able to add a twin air mattress and still have plenty of room for 6 suitcases and a sit n stand stroller. We travel often so kind of have it down. I a family is used to a larger or more delux room then I can see how the values would seem small. I was scared that we would be very cramped by the reviews before we left, but was pleasently surprised by the space...queen size beds woudl have been nice though.

Asked and answered recently on Disneys "Mom's" council:

Value resorts have a room occupancy of 4 people, plus one child (infant) in a crib. (Children in a Pack ’n’ Play crib are the only exception to the 4 people maximum at these resorts.) Have a magical visit!

Most of the DVC one bedrooms only sleep four plus one under the age of three. They will allow a fifth person, but not provide the towels or bedding needed for the fifth person. You can't add a sixth no matter the age unless you get an AKV (non-value) one bedroom or BLT one bedroom. They sleep five and may allow one under the age of three.

I would consider getting two connecting rooms or a family suite. Aside from the occupancy issue, it's going to be very cramped. You're likely to have problems with conflicting sleep schedules as well as the space issues. I have 4 kids, and have done all 6 in a room, in a pinch (my mom's funeral out of state, and the hotel said it was okay). It wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't very comfortable. Certainly not relaxing. We also did all 6 in a 1BR at AKL last summer. That was better, but we won't be doing it again. It didn't feel like a vacation and we were all tripping over each other. After a few days, we moved to a 2BR and it was MUCH better.

I would recommend staying less time to save money, over trying to squeeze everyone in. Or stay off-site, where you could rent a condo or house and have plenty of space for all.

last year we stayed in a moderate resort with 10,7,3, year olds and a two month old. No one ever new, or cared. We are c0-sleepers anyway, at any given night we have 1,2, or three kids in bed w/us and there was plenty of room for the pack-n-play.

don't worry, and have fun
